Javascript should say "you are a masochist and a nerd"

[–] zqwzzle@lemmy.ca 88 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)
[–] SubArcticTundra@lemmy.ml 13 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Who thought of that and how have they managed to sustain their core bodily functions this long?

That should be a dog fucking a football.

Rust: you are a nerd wearing programming socks.

[–] benjaminb@discuss.tchncs.de 5 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Trying to rewrite everything in the universe

[–] darvit@lemmy.darvit.nl 7 points 2 weeks ago

It's a shame that the Rust rewrite of the GNU coreutils was named uutils and not uwutils.

I am not in this chart because my favourite programming languages are too nerdy for the cool programming nerds to include in their nerd chart.

[–] KSPAtlas@sopuli.xyz 8 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Therefore I can conclude I am not a nerd

[–] davidagain@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago

I don't think that's how it works.

[–] white_nrdy@programming.dev 6 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (9 children)

Same here.

VHDL represent. Although it's arguably not a "programming language"

[–] Overshoot2648@lemm.ee 9 points 2 weeks ago

you get out of here with your hardware descriptions!

Cobol: you are old, and a nerd, and probably making some sweet cheddar right now propping up a mid to late 20th century beast somewhere.

Assembly: you are a cyborg.

[–] anomnom@sh.itjust.works 11 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Assembly: you are a cyborg.

Or programming a tiny microcontroller to blink a led as efficient as possible.

[–] TimeSquirrel@kbin.melroy.org 7 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Something wrong with:

#include <Arduino.h>

void loop()  {
digitalWrite(13, HIGH);
delay(1000);
digitalWrite(13, LOW);
delay(1000);
}

? 😂🤮

[–] Scrath@lemmy.dbzer0.com 12 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Obviously the only correct way to blink an LED is to use a hardware timer to trigger a DMA transfer which stores a bit in the pin toggle register at a set interval

Lisp gang rise up! uses inhaler

[–] davidagain@lemmy.world 7 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (5 children)

As a haskell nerd, I feel that I have the moral authority to declare you king of the nerds.

"Ha! You think your language has macros? You call that a macro?! This list processing code is a list of tokens, why wouldn't it be able to edit itself?"

It breaks my brain.

[–] wer2@lemm.ee 5 points 2 weeks ago

When they said, "Don't write self modifying code", they obviously didn't mean me! /s

R

We can reject the null hypothesis that you are not a nerd at significance $\alpha < 0.001$.

oh wait, shit let me run that again, my data frame is full of NA somehow, again.

[–] shellington 14 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

Aww I guess i'm fine since i mainly write in BBC BASIC SDL lol

[–] davidagain@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Have you come to 2025 in a time machine? Can I borrow it?

[–] shellington 5 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Sorry I'm using it at the moment doing research for a Roman trading game I'm writing in BASIC.

What is the bottom right language?

[–] nnjwwl@lemmy.world 15 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Perl. It was the cool thing from 1998 to 2008.

[–] digdilem@lemmy.ml 5 points 2 weeks ago

Still the linux sysadmin's language of choice!

[–] azalty@jlai.lu 6 points 2 weeks ago
[–] lena@gregtech.eu 6 points 2 weeks ago

What is HTML doing here? Blasphemy!

[–] epicstove@lemmy.ca 5 points 2 weeks ago

If you're programming in assembly, regardless of what it is, you are the biggest nerd of them all. And I have massive fucking respect for you.

[–] twinnie@feddit.uk 4 points 2 weeks ago

This chart knows me.
