I haven't been able to find any communities dedicated to our Lord and Saviour Eris, and I am perplexed by this fnord. Where are you hiding, my fellow popes?

5 tonnes of Flax for all!

[–] XTL@sopuli.xyz 8 points 1 week ago

Maybe Lemmy needs more slack.

We had one, but there was a schism over the location of the Brunswick Shrine. That kicked off a round of mutual excommunications. By the time it was over, the mod had accidentally excommunicated (blocked) themself and everyone else had blocked each other.

So start one! Or five! May a thousand communities bicker for the greater glory of Eris Discordia. Kallisti!

I remember facebook had a really nice Discordian group, but people there were mostly older and I don't think they would consider moving to an alternative platform or if they are moslty even aware of fediverse, but by my papal decree I shall announce a new instance devoted to our Lady

[–] Maerman@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Sounds great, yeah. I am not good enough at computer stuff to start an instance, but I would be really happy to join one. So keep me illuminated, please.

I have sent my telekinetic powers across the noΓΆsphere, now we wait until a brave soul actually starts doing it because I have no idea how to create and maintain instances either but maybe I'll look into it

[–] junkthief@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

You don’t need a whole new instance, you can create a community on an instance you like (as long as it allows creating new communities).

[–] ewigkaiwelo@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

Wow turns out there already is one: c/discordianism

[–] Feddinat0r@feddit.org 5 points 1 week ago (2 children)

What is a discordian?

[–] pmk@lemmy.sdf.org 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

It's a fictional and real religion from a book called the illuminatus trilogy.

[–] AllNewTypeFace@leminal.space 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

It predates Illuminatus!, which came out in the early 70s. The foundational text of Discordianism, the Principia Discordia, was published (i.e. photocopied and sent out to fellow fringe dwellers) around the mid-60s. Illuminatus!, however, popularised it.

[–] pmk@lemmy.sdf.org 2 points 1 week ago

Aha! I did not know that.

[–] ewigkaiwelo@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

It's like descartian but with a twist

[–] ewigkaiwelo@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

Wait guys there is already a community and I even was a member already: c/discordianism (sorry don't know how to find a community link on voyager mobile, just use search)

I'm not a Discordian but I do believe in the Republic of Dave!

Do I get a seat? :D

Bob says, "Your lack of slack is disturbing."

[–] crmsnbleyd@sopuli.xyz 2 points 1 week ago

There's a controversial person on a server called discordia named Eris

[–] chaos@beehaw.org 1 points 1 week ago

Fellow former popes, you mean, by reading this message you hereby excommunicate yourself.

[–] nihilisticfuq@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Fnord is the invisible discordia of Lemmy. You have one now and at same time you don’t have it at all.
