I don’t ever want to hear his name again. People like him, and Logan Paul in Japan, who intentionally disrespect entire nations for views, make life harder for those of us who are trying to be contributing members of their societies.

Lock him up until my kid is an adult.

Paul's drink apparently hit the shelves recently here in Japan (not in my rural corner but in urban areas). Because of japanese defamation laws, I can't say anything (even saying something 100% provably true can get you sued here), but it sure would be a shame if people brought it up a lot in English and japanese on the internet a lot

Wait, you can't be critical of someone if they're selling a product regardless?

Defamation in Japan.

Apparently only if what you say is true and for the public benefit can you escape penalty.

Ho-lee-shit I had no idea Japanese law was so ass-backwards.

Japanese law [is] so ass-backwards.

Careful. No matter which country you're comparing it against, the cherry-picking goes both ways. :-P

They have the death penalty. Imho any country with the death penalty is primitive and inadequate in terms of law. It's that solution for when your legal system is unable to rehabilitate criminals or keep the population safe otherwise. There's a reason why most countries with the death penalty are struggling poor African, middle eastern and south east asian nations. Some edge cases on developed countries too, of which Japan is one.

Beast and Paul have a huge following in Asia, sadly enough.

both korean and japanese people are some of the nicest people on planet earth but they wont let you walk over them this is why you stay with tourist groups and if you do want to go semi solo you should higher a native speaker this way you avoid breaking the law

As someone living in Japan, I'm angry at the limp punishment he got here. I hope he gets the book thrown at him

[–] skozzii@lemmy.ca 17 points 1 week ago

This guy sucks hard, and then I find out he is MAGA, ok, it's starting to make sense...

[–] CTDummy@lemm.ee 17 points 1 week ago

Finger crossed he gets the book thrown at him for disrespecting all avenues of Korean culture including now their courts. Hopefully a decade or so in a Korean slammer after what he did might make him reconsider his priorities.

That might be the most titan-looking expression that I’ve ever seen in a photo of a human.

Please make a legal example out of him.

Oh Somali. What a ride it’s been. The justice is sweet.

Legal Mindset’s coverage on YouTube about this case has been excellent.
