/c/TenFoward: Your home-away-from-home for all things Star Trek!

Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally "othering" of a group will result in removal/ban.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon'

~ 8. No Political Upheaval. Political commentary is allowed, but please keep discussions civil. Read here for our community's expectations.

Fun will now commence.

I just blocked them.

Last time I asked about the inability to eat solid food was a couple of months ago if memory serves. He said he was doing well after the move to the UK, but the food situation had not changed. Also he was in desperate need of finding a job and was really struggling on that front.

I hope all is okay.

The last thing I remember seeing from him was a fight with another user, and a slew of deleted comments talking about suicide. I really hope he's okay

[–] skulblaka@sh.itjust.works 29 points 1 week ago (1 children)

They were hanging around here and posting more in the few weeks following that. I was keeping an eye open for them after seeing that whole... debacle.

Whatever else might have happened I'm pretty confident that that argument, at least, isn't of concern anymore. I hope.

[–] FoxyFerengi@lemm.ee 20 points 1 week ago

I have had my own share of publicly threatening suicide over internet arguments, so I guess feel that the urge was already there for him, too. Moving to a different continent is difficult enough without all the other struggles Squid has shared, I just hope someone who knows him irl is checking in on him

Damn, hope they're OK!

I’m going to err on the side of optimism and believe he’s just been busy with his new job and moving his wife and kid(s) across the pond.

Edit: grammar

[–] cm0002@lemmy.world 34 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Same hopefully either that or he just needed to do a smart phone detox or something

[–] dohpaz42@lemmy.world 27 points 1 week ago

Ooooooor, he got tired of the BS job offers and decided to go all Squid’s 11 and rob the Crown Jewels?

Well that's...worrying, sending good vibes @FlyingSquid@lemmy.world wherever you're at

[–] SARGE@startrek.website 23 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I am definitely concerned, I didn't interact with them directly often but I liked seeing the positive updates about their family's move.

Hopefully everyone is doing well and just have more important, happy things keeping them occupied.

Hoping all is well for him and his family. A major move like that in fairly short time is a lot to handle. I read a post not too long ago that his daughter has more friends and socialization going on in the brief time there than when in the US.

Be well Squid!

I have very few memories from the first three months after moving. The stress of moving combined with looking for a job combined with selling our old house just all piled on to everything. Couldn't imagine what it's like with the added burden of children and it being a different country.

Moving countries to provide a better life for your progeny will do that.

I was just thinking about him yesterday. Seems like dude has a lot on his plate right now. I'm sure lemmy isn't near the top of his priorities.

[–] FenrirIII@lemmy.world 23 points 1 week ago

Moving countries, finding a job, family stuff. Sure his plate is full

[–] cm0002@lemmy.world 16 points 1 week ago

It was the post about Musky having that "meltdown" about Teslas stock yesterday that did it, I was thinking that this would be perfect for a Riker Trombone and then it hit me lol

Yeah, I was wondering about him, too. I think it's wild the Lemmy is tight knit enough for stuff like worrying about specific users. Reminds me of the days when forums were the dominant social media of the internet.

Naw. Sent a DM a couple days back to check in, but have heard nothing. Here's hoping they're just busy with the real world.

I've been worried about Jawa21 as well. https://startrek.website/u/jawa21 shows a deleted account now again :(

[–] SatyrSack@feddit.org 22 points 1 week ago (1 children)

jawa21 was https://lemmy.sdf.org/u/jawa21 for the past several months, but that is also deleted

[–] negativenull@lemmy.world 14 points 1 week ago

Oh I missed their move somehow. That's is also worrying

[–] ummthatguy@lemmy.world 15 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Last I saw, there was some troll issue on their instance, then nothing. Account wiped. Rather concerning.

I thought my feed was a bit on the quiet side.

Hopefully they're just busy with getting their new life setup.

[–] peteypete420@sh.itjust.works 19 points 1 week ago

O no! I hope all is alright.

[–] FordBeeblebrox@lemmy.world 19 points 1 week ago

Hopefully he’s just busy making friends in a new country and getting his family across the pond safely. 🖖

[–] Clinicallydepressedpoochie@lemmy.world 15 points 1 week ago (5 children)

I know his alt but I'm not telling.

[–] Sweetpeaches69@lemmy.world 2 points 6 days ago

Is his alt posting?
