A fellow lemming made a comment the other day about this douche that has stuck with me.

The gist of it was that these old school politicians are used to playing the R-vs-D game for the public while they enrich themselves with their insider trading and conflicts of interest. Just don’t ruin the fun and embarrass the rest of us & draw scrutiny our way, and it will be a lucrative career, “serving” the American people.

And because of this, politicians like Schumer have actual financial crimes in their past for anybody driven enough to dig into them and ruin everybody’s fun.

I don’t know if this is actually true, but I’m sure Trump and his team know a thing or two about the effectiveness of kompromat.

Meanwhile people like Bernie and AOC are hitting up the mid-west and the southwest in his “fighting oligarchy” tour. Schumer is tone deaf to the time and a self righteous book tour ain’t the answer. Screenshot from a Bernie update a couple days ago.

Would be shame if people went to his book tour just to make fun of him. Or to call him a bitch or just to heckle him in general

[–] ajoebyanyothername@lemmy.world 48 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

Those are probably the security concerns.

[–] oxysis@lemm.ee 30 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

And? Unless they only allow in prevetted people, than they have to continually toss out anyone who speaks up. We need to return to making politicians be afraid to show their dumb faces after screwing over their constituents

We need to return to making politicians be afraid to show their dumb faces after screwing over their constituents

They already are afraid to show their dumb faces to their constituents. The problem is that the constituents don't have the power to actually do anything. The only thing that constituents have left is violence. And yes, that's exactly what the GOP is doing. But at that point, it almost becomes a pyrrhic victory. Our elections will be decided not by the votes but by whichever side has the most thugs willing to commit the most violence.

I aint paying 40$ to heckle this old man.

[–] Ghostalmedia@lemmy.world 21 points 22 hours ago

The streets outside are free and more visible to cameras and the public.

[–] Botzo@lemmy.world 38 points 21 hours ago* (last edited 13 hours ago)

Hey look, hiding from the public is officially bipartisan.

[–] ZeroCool@lemmy.ca 45 points 23 hours ago* (last edited 22 hours ago) (3 children)

Or to put it more accurately:

"Schumer postpones book tour because nobody's going to show up to give his duplicitous ass the fawning attention he demands."

Edit: Some of you seem to have reading comprehension problems.

[–] ceenote@lemmy.world 24 points 23 hours ago

Oh, I think a lot of people would show up. They're just people he doesn't want to talk to.

[–] takeda@lemm.ee 12 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

After Friday's vote he might have a better luck to do book signing in MAGA counties.

Fucking coward. Let's also not forget about other 9:

  • Dick Durbin of Illinois
  • Brian Schatz of Hawaii
  • Catherine Cortez Masto of Nevada
  • John Fetterman of Pennsylvania
  • Gary Peters of Michigan
  • Kirsten Gillibrand of New York
  • Maggie Hassan of New Hampshire
  • Jeanne Shaheen of New Hampshire
  • Angus King of Maine
[–] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 3 points 22 hours ago

John Fetterman is no more a Democrat than I am. And I’m not a democrat anymore.

[–] Ghostalmedia@lemmy.world 8 points 22 hours ago

Trust me, attendance would be through the roof. It’s just going to be 95% angry protesters.

[–] figjam@midwest.social 7 points 17 hours ago

Eat shit Chuck.

[–] peoplebeproblems@midwest.social 24 points 22 hours ago

Oh, I wonder why? It couldn't be that actions have consequences?

No? Never?

[–] Blackout@fedia.io 25 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

"I got mine" by Chuck Schumer was going to be a hit too. Maybe he'll tour when his follow-up "The Art of Rolling Over" releases.

[–] Uniquitous@lemmy.one 8 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

His next book is "Art of the Kneel"

[–] massacre@lemmy.world 2 points 17 hours ago

I feel like this is going to catch on.

[–] Atelopus-zeteki@fedia.io 32 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

Chuck Shumer Chose to postpone book tour... FTFY.

[–] arotrios@lemmy.world 21 points 23 hours ago (1 children)
