This is how the Skynet takeover plays out in the boring dystopia. Tesla autopilot taking revenge for all the vandalism. SMH

Any information yet if the software went crazy or the driver went crazy?

[–] ArchmageAzor@lemmy.world 22 points 1 day ago

It must have registered a pedestrian with semitic facial features.

[–] lemmydividebyzero@reddthat.com 23 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Maybe, the Tesla wanted to drive to the location shown on one of the pedestrian's T-Shirt... 😏

[–] El_Scapacabra@lemm.ee 3 points 17 hours ago

T-shirt:

"New York"

Tesla:

"Sweet, found a shortcut!"

Ban them, recall them, force the "auto" pilot features to be disabled

Id just like to point out that while I think Tesla is a shit car company partly owned by a complete asshole that theres no evidence at this point that there was any fault with the car. Could have been a medical episode, drunk driver or shit driver. They deserve a lot of hate for shit thats definitely wrong with them. This might not be one of those cases.

My prius brakes if it detects a pedestrian in front of you even when your foot is on the gas. Unsurprising that tesla can't figure that out

[–] cactusupyourbutt@lemmy.world 2 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

genuine question, what does it do if it detects a car following you at the same speed?

[–] ThePantser@sh.itjust.works 7 points 19 hours ago (2 children)

Probably not care since what danger is there from a car following you?

[–] CoolMatt@lemmy.ca 2 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

Probably rear ending, whoch could potentially push the front car into the pedestrian anyway

[–] TonyTonyChopper@mander.xyz 4 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

GOOD point. Best bet is to just keep going then.

[–] CoolMatt@lemmy.ca 2 points 14 hours ago

Ahhaha, well I mean I get the commenter's curiosity as to what would happen in that situation

[–] cactusupyourbutt@lemmy.world 2 points 18 hours ago

I meant at the same time

there was/is a huge scandal of tesla employees spying on customers through their cars. No reason why they wouldn't be able to be weaponized by muskrat at any point in time.

[–] EtherWhack@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I wonder if there's a way to make it constantly upload a goatse. (aside from taping a picture to the cameras)

Do you have any sources? I would like to send them to some Tesla owners I know.

[–] SenatorCollins@aussie.zone 61 points 1 day ago (3 children)

Yeah, that’s not very typical. I’d like to make that point.

[–] unexposedhazard@discuss.tchncs.de 25 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

It does look like the front might have actually fallen off.

[–] SenatorCollins@aussie.zone 10 points 1 day ago

Well, I was thinking more about the other ones.

[–] nthavoc@lemmy.today 14 points 1 day ago (1 children)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3m5qxZm_JqM for the dummy downvoters not getting the reference or just don't have a sense of humor.

[–] SenatorCollins@aussie.zone 10 points 1 day ago

I’m not saying it wasn’t safe, it’s just perhaps not quite as safe as some of the other ones.

[–] Asidonhopo@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I saw the username and thought this is exactly her kind of reasoning, but apparently perhaps Australia has a senator with that name too

[–] SenatorCollins@aussie.zone 9 points 1 day ago

Well there are a lot of these pedestrians going around the world all the time, and very seldom does anything like this happen. I just don’t want people thinking that pedestrians aren’t safe.

[–] rabber@lemmy.ca 34 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Yeah i never opted into the tesla self driving beta program. Ban this shit.

[–] bitchkat@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

The FSD beta has been merged to mainline for a while now. If you have FSD, you have what used to be the beta.

The car wrapped around the lamppost with a "Welcome to campus life" banner got a chuckle out of me.

[–] casmael@lemm.ee 8 points 1 day ago

It’s the student life m8

[–] casmael@lemm.ee 13 points 1 day ago

Jesus Christ footage looks like it was doing a few miles an hour there
