The fact people are even talking about this, means we are so fucked.

[–] NJSpradlin@lemmy.world 90 points 1 week ago (1 children)

The media has blatantly enabled this MFer for years by doing the whole ‘people are saying’ BS. Just STOP. Don’t repeat it. State that it’s illegal and impossible, and would be unconstitutional, and then stop.

[–] kata1yst@sh.itjust.works 27 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yup. When you "both sides" insanity, you normalize it.

[–] JessyKenning@lemmy.world 8 points 1 week ago

"We have two sides; those that follow the rule of law, and also these stupid fuckers over here."

[–] TrippaSnippa@lemm.ee 17 points 1 week ago

They've already normalised the idea enough that they're polling people about whether or not it should happen as if it's a totally valid question to ask. That shouldn't even be a question, the only response should be "no, fuck off, you can't do that". Once again the media are complicit in sanewashing and normalising this shit.

[–] henfredemars@infosec.pub 9 points 1 week ago

Nine ways from Sunday. I’m actually more surprised when I do have hope because the vast majority of the time I believe it is quite hopeless.

[–] yuknowhokat@lemmy.world 64 points 1 week ago (6 children)

7 in 10 don't want him to run. That means 3 in 10 do want him to run. There is that 30% of fucking morons who want Trump forever.

Yeah, that was the first thing I noticed too. 30% of voters actually want a god-king.

[–] nova_ad_vitum@lemmy.ca 6 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Depending on how they did this poll, 3-4/10 don't vote so their opinion doesn't matter anyways.

[–] pezhore@infosec.pub 6 points 1 week ago

And his approval rating hovers around 30-40% so this tracks.

I bet every one of the three in ten have at some point called themselves a constitutionalist.

[–] thebardingreen@lemmy.starlightkel.xyz 18 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (2 children)

I saw a Youtube comment the other day calling for Trump to throw away the constitution, declare himself king and execute judges who don't enact his will. It had likes.

I mean... it's probably Russian bots? Right?

[–] Hawke@lemmy.world 17 points 1 week ago

Honestly it probably is. That’s the whole Russian method, sow dissent and make the other side hate and distrust each other. Find every division you can and build the “other” into an evil bogeyman. Of course the fact that the literal nazis have seen this as an opportunity gives it a grain of truth and there is always someone who really believes that.

I can't believe 3 in 10 want him to overthrow the constitution. We're a deeply unserious nation.

The fact that it isn't 10/10 people disgusts me.

[–] nuko147@lemm.ee 24 points 1 week ago (1 children)

So 3 out of 10 are considered traitors?

[–] SoftestSapphic@lemmy.world 8 points 1 week ago

3/10 of our neighbors want a dictatorship.

Good to know they'll be outnumbered when we have to shoot them.

[–] NigelFrobisher@aussie.zone 24 points 1 week ago (3 children)

So 3/10 want him to run for a third term?

[–] DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social 7 points 1 week ago (1 children)

The 3/10s of the population that voted and won

[–] NutWrench@lemmy.ml 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yup. The non-voters had a choice between boring corporatists and 100% concentrated evil and felt "sending a message" was more important.

3 of 10? Sounds like a majority by Trumpy/Republican math.

[–] yata@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 week ago

Yeah, that should have been the headline.

[–] Jenpocalypse@lemmy.world 21 points 1 week ago (1 children)

My god, why are we even entertaining this?

He CANNOT have a third term.

[–] WraithGear@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Legally, or physically?

Ceasers army also can’t cross the rubicon

[–] Norgoroth@lemmy.world 20 points 1 week ago (2 children)

According to the constitution, the punishment for traitors is execution

7 in 10!? It needs to be 11 out of 10!

[–] F_OFF_Reddit@lemmy.world 16 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Libertarians right now with the "tread on me harder daddy" flag hanging on the wall, all that 2nd amendment for show.

[–] njm1314@lemmy.world 16 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Those last three should be shot

This should be 10 out of 10 people. I’m not even American and I know more about American and their constitution than most Americans it seems.

That fat orange Russian muppet should be in jail, not president.

[–] slaneesh_is_right@lemmy.org 5 points 1 week ago

The constitution was ment to be rewritten and adjusted, because times are changing. Even these slave keeping cunts knew that. So i don't think pointing at the constitution should mean too much. But it is hilarious that just suggesting that the 2nd amendment could maybe not be the best idea, makes the same people frothing out of their pie holes who also want to overthrow the government and keep the fattest most incompetent person in charge.

Once again, we see that fucking 30ish% baseline of psychopaths. This timeline fucking sucks.

[–] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 12 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Only 70% of Americans can be bothered to give a fuck about the most basic, non-debatable aspect of our Constitution.

Yeah, we're fucked.

[–] BreadstickNinja@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yeah, the headline should be reversed so as not to bury the lede. A full 30% of Americans want to throw out the constitutional guardrails and basic limitations on power that keep us a republic and not an autocracy. That's a terrifying figure.

Lmao. Great way to normalize ignoring your constitution.

[–] Jaysyn@lemmy.world 12 points 1 week ago (2 children)

I'm rather hoping he strokes out before the end of this one.

Or as Trumps puts it:

"Everyone wants me to. They all say what a great idea it would be. They say 'sir..sir...we need you.' Tears streaming down their faces, 'sir please...only you have the ability to make us great again. Tremendous ability, they say. Probably the most tremendous ever if I'm being honest."

Run for a third term? I'm hoping this piece of shit motherfucker doesn't survive another year.

22/27 says he can't.

But 5/9 might decide if he can, and they have a history of demolishing democracy.

[–] isles@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago (1 children)

The constitution is like the bible for conservatives: keep the parts you like and throw out the rest.

[–] PresidentCamacho@lemm.ee 8 points 1 week ago

The constitution is like the bible for conservatives: Cant be bothered to read it, gladly accepts someone else's interpretation.

[–] Nougat@fedia.io 9 points 1 week ago

The next time there's an election, make sure to cast your bullet.

[–] MedicPigBabySaver@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago (5 children)

If he's still alive and in office for the Fall of '28, there will not be an election and he will not leave the WH.

It’s always that 30% of people who are just the worst and dragging the rest of the species down…

[–] merc@sh.itjust.works 8 points 1 week ago

? in 10 are aware that if Trump were to have a 3rd term it wouldn't be the result of an election.

[–] modifier@lemmy.ca 8 points 1 week ago

That’s nice but rest assured we will not be consulted when they inevitably decide to further their mockery of the constitution and the very idea of patriotism.

[–] No1@aussie.zone 7 points 1 week ago

There's no need for a third term if the second term goes forever and never ends.

Just sayin'.....

[–] Jollyllama@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago

My grandmother who has a Trump cutout unironically does not want him to run again. She says he's had a good run but is too old now let alone in 3 years.

[–] selkiesidhe@lemm.ee 5 points 1 week ago

Three of those people are below average in intelligence and the forth can't be bothered to vote (fuck you most of all).

Everyone else congratulate yourselves for having a somewhat functioning brain. Unlike MAGAts, who shouldn't be allowed to operate vehicles in public or even run side-of-the-road fruit stands. At least the swastikas, I mean red hats, make it easy to point them out...
