Interview done - went as well as it could have done, once I had to stop because my voice shook but she reassured me and I took a deep breath and went on.
A lot of the questions I'd prepared she didn't ask and a couple she asked I hadn't anticipated, but I got through them just fine and she could see how I'd think on the fly and (I hope) knew my stuff.
She said I'd probably hear by the end of the day, so fingers crossed!

I did make da McDonald's dis morning coz i am a certified tight-arse. Egg and sausage macburger deluxe macmuffin with unlimited hash browns (2 per person) and a bottomless instant coffee.

I did learn if one touches the inside of a hot airfryer wiz ze fingies one can become a human car alarm.

[-] Taleya@aussie.zone 5 points 1 year ago

it is better to touch with ze fingies than with the soft fleshy inner arm when reaching for one's delicious chicken tendies, I promise you

I hung up my new solar lamp outside. Is pretty.

Hopefully it holds up to the weather OK.

Just a friendly reminder that cooking gyoza at 2:30am is natural, healthy and perfectly normal.

There's a blue tongue lizard chillin next to my water heater tank outside. Lilttle dude is just basking and loving life.

[-] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 10 points 1 year ago

Also, racism and anti-Semitism of some fam members is so subtly expressed. Most know it's wrong, that's why they state it in passive aggressive ways. ๐Ÿคฌ The stupid ones just repeat shit they hear on Fox. Then there are the ones with "inside" knowledge. ๐Ÿ™„

I'm so sick of the petty hate.

[-] landsharkkidd@aussie.zone 5 points 1 year ago

I hated experiencing that when my ex-stepdad used to live with us. It always gives me such uncomfortable feelings and so jarring too.

Glad he's not here any more, though not saying that I myself am perfect, but doing my best to unlearn a lot of it that's just imbued in our culture. So I sympathise with you a lot.

[-] SituationCake@aussie.zone 4 points 1 year ago

My family is full of them. Partners family is full of them. They know my thoughts but they have safety in numbers at family gatherings so donโ€™t hold back. Not looking forward to Christmas and hearing everyoneโ€™s opinions on the voice. Or Gaza. Puts me in a shit mood for the holidays every single time.

I mixed sour cream and Philly cream cheese into my scrambled eggs mix. They're fluffy and delicious!

So much stuff I would love to buy at the moment but given the interest rate environment I'm trying to exercise self restraint.

Not liking these rain/storm forecasts, I'm supposed to be heading up to the Rangers to go camping this coming weekend.

[-] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 8 points 1 year ago

Do you what's good about being a CEO? I tell my workers that I'm leaving the room and when I get back there better be music on. I don't care who or how just make it happen.

I have come down with a huge crush on a guy I recently hooked up with. Fuck.

[-] wscholermann@aussie.zone 6 points 1 year ago

Loving this weather. Crisp and dry without being too hot!

[-] fullkitwanker@aussie.zone 6 points 1 year ago

Tennis time! Did I mention I've been playing a lot recently? I have been feeling extra tired lately and should reduce my playing time and increase my recovery time, but I think I am addicted. (Also that it is physical exercise so that's my rationale for too much tennis!)

[-] tone_212@aussie.zone 6 points 1 year ago

Best shower glass cleaner? Iโ€™ve used so many and can never get a perfect finish. Looks great from a distance but once you get closer the soap scum is still faintly there.

[-] A1kmm@lemmy.amxl.com 5 points 1 year ago

Prevention is the best cure for that - get a squeegee and hang it by your shower, and have a rule that if you get the glass wet, you get every drop of water off it. Some of the shower sprays just reduce the surface tension to stop water sticking (i.e. they are a similar preventative measure to just wiping all the water off) - they only work if you use them every time (but wiping with a squeegee is easier, the reason those products exist is selling a consumable you use every time you shower is more profitable than selling a squeegee).

If over time, you repeatedly get it wet, and don't let any liquid dry on it, you'll eventually leach out all the scum (most Melbourne water is relatively soft - low calcium - so just water works eventually). If you really want to accelerate it, try something with oxalic acid in it, which will strip calcium from limescale - but repeated cycles of tap water and squeegee will eventually get the same result.

[-] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 5 points 1 year ago

Gumption baby. Wax on wax off. You can do your tiles and grout with it too.

[-] DirigibleProtein@aussie.zone 5 points 1 year ago

Just (almost - missed a few spots) cleaned our almost 80 years old bath with gumption and a stiff brush. The landlord told us it was stained beyond repair, gumption cleaned it in minutes.

Cat rambles

ย

Miss Molly Moobeans has taken well to the new food started yesterday or the day beforeโ€ฆ Iโ€™m mixing it with the old. Sheโ€™s been a bit cranky and sooky though, and hasnโ€™t been #2 yet so weโ€™re not out of the woods. There was a little bit of what could have been a pain squint. Tummy upsets can take time to show. Gotta monitor the moobooty.

I also worry about the burden on her kidneys because this is homebrand food and wouldnโ€™t have been bought if there were other poultry free options at an affordable price point.

Smitten meets an American standard for pet food but likely not the Australian oneโ€ฆ but it is fortified unlike the fairly empty Dine Desire/Fancy Feast Royale.

(I also feed her many salty cat treats).

In addition to still needing to check the salt and ash content against the acceptable amount I would be very curious to know the phosphorus levels.

She does ask for variety so it may be the different foods get rotated to avoid cumulative effects of constantly feeding a single brand
