Yeah, that's the question, found out bout this browser some time ago and got curious on what do people around here think about it, seems to be open sorce and firefox based so... Does it have a general good reputation among those who know it?

(Floorp's oficial website: https://floorp.app/
And their github page that is in English: https://github.com/Floorp-Projects/Floorp/)

first I've heard of it, but I'm skeptical of their claim to deliver security fixes faster than firefox.

Oh so they're claiming that, i see
Thanks!

It’s really nice, I love the sidebar (after moving it to the left) and the workspaces feature is convenient

Linking to the releases page on GitHub is more convenient since it has screenshots, videos, and its in english https://github.com/Floorp-Projects/Floorp/releases

I see, oh and yeah, that makes sense, will edit this link there too thank you!

To be honest, I get the appeal, but I like my browser to be on the safer side, so I prefer OG Firefox, because it just works for me, and it's got hundreds of people delivering fixes as fast as they can (at least in Arch Linux). It's got tabs and containers, don't need nothing more.

I see, that's a good point, Thanks for answering!

Am I missing something? On github it says the main language is English, but the website is all in Japanese.

[-] Quills@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Giving that a quick look, I'd suppose they mean like, main language they want to have a translation to, maybe?

[-] ReakDuck@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 year ago

The developers are in japan

This is the first time I hear about it and I have to say it looks really promising. I'm a sucker for Vivaldi style customization but I really don't want to use Chromium based browser. Definitely will give Floorp a chance. Thanks for bringing this to my attention!

Oh well, you're welcome!

Doesn't seem very well known but glad it is gecko based

[-] Quills@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 year ago

I discovered it last week, it became my main browser. Just feels snappier than Firefox and Librewolf

[-] Quills@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 year ago

Ooh, that's nice!

[-] watson387@sopuli.xyz 3 points 1 year ago

I’ve been using it. It’s fast and does its job.

[-] Quills@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 year ago

Ooh, nice to know!

[-] Pantherina@feddit.de 1 points 1 year ago

I dont see the use. Its just Firefox with some light CSS, some Addons

Librewolf and Mull are the only Firefox forks I would use. And even these... Arkenfox user.js and custom userChrome on official Firefox Flatpak is the best option.

[-] Tau@sopuli.xyz 1 points 1 year ago

Tried for some time and it's great! Though I prefer using qutebrowser

[-] Quills@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 year ago

Hmm, understandable

First time checking it out, and I've never seen a firefox distro. Gonna try it out.
