I've seen actual medieval documents that are better quality than this image.

three times as strong at high noon than at daybreak

Ah, I know an alcoholic when I read of one.

  • Brave Sir Robin ran away (bravely).
[–] CelloMike@lemmy.world 31 points 6 days ago (1 children)

He was not at all afraid to be killed in nasty ways

[–] AdamBomb@lemmy.sdf.org 15 points 6 days ago (1 children)

He was not the least bit scared to be smashed into a pulp. Brave, brave, brave, brave Sir Robin!

That's...enough singing for now, lads.

[–] Klear@sh.itjust.works 2 points 5 days ago

...and there was much rejoicing. Yay!

[–] webghost0101@sopuli.xyz 24 points 6 days ago (1 children)

My favorite part about this is how the narrator casually mentions that they ate some of Sir Robins minstrels on the way.

[–] A_Union_of_Kobolds@lemmy.world 21 points 6 days ago (1 children)

And there was much rejoicing.

"Sir Galahad... rare example of male virginity super powers"

I don't think it was rare. That's why Newton was celibate, because he thought it was better for him that way.

Also, Imma not believe properly until I see some sources.

[–] thedirtyknapkin@lemmy.world 14 points 6 days ago (1 children)

hell, the entire anti-fap movement like 5 years ago basically seemed to believe that virginity and never cumming would give guys super powers.

[–] scintilla@lemm.ee 5 points 6 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (1 children)

I remember when one dude said he could see the future after not cumming for a month

[–] Boxwine@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago

He must've climbed real high before he stopped for a month

Yeah there was also a general belief that it was usually women tempting men into "carnality." Lots of "what was she wearing" energy.

Gawain was a repurposed Celtic demigod who grow superhumanly strong as the sun reached its zenith.

Escanor, Lion sin of pride - I see why 7 deadly sins has such a timeless appeal

[–] Sergio@slrpnk.net 14 points 6 days ago

Sounds like we should never go to Camelot for 'tis a silly place.

[–] Mr_Dr_Oink@lemmy.world 9 points 5 days ago

It's all true! They've got a Sir Tificate to prove it.

[–] umbraroze@slrpnk.net 11 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (1 children)

Sir Cumference the sphere

Oh yes, and the monastery near Camelot also had a nearly spherical oblate

And they were roommates ❤️

[–] bizarroland@lemmy.world 13 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Just out of curiosity, does anyone have any links to where stories detailing these amazing feats are located?

[–] BakerBagel@midwest.social 28 points 6 days ago (1 children)

One thing that is important to note is that King Arthur was sorta used as a template for story telling in medieval England, Wales, and France. There are dozens of conflicting stories and accounts because some tales are from the 7th century, and some are from the 14th. King Arthur and The knights of the round table are essentially a folk hero tale for the nobility of the middle ages.

Thomas Malory's Le Morte D'Arthur is the first compilation of Arthurian tales that were collected, but it was written in the 15th century and can be a real bear to read if you want something more casual.

I always recommend they start with the Vulgate cycle, which has the benefit of making them realize how many of these fucking stories there are.

I'm pretty sure Sir Kay is the protagonist of Yakitate! Ja-Pan anime screenshot depicting glowing hand

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 7 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (2 children)

I remember a cartoon about modern day high school kids that Merlin pulled back in time to be the Knights of the Round Table and they had anime mechsuits as their armor and shot lasers from their swords and shit like that.

I want to see it again because it was pretty fucking dope, but I also don't remember its name. I don't know if it was actual anime or not tho; I am fairly certain it was American or Canadian made. But it sure had a lot of anime-ness to it!

Looks like this one: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/King_Arthur_and_the_Knights_of_Justice?wprov=sfla1

I'd totally forgotten about this show, but I remember watching it, as well. Curious to see how it holds up.

I remember it too, and also thinking "this is cool but also kinda bad" at the time which is not a great sign

[–] EightBitBlood@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago

"King Arthur and the Knights of Justice" is what you're looking for - and more specifically the absolute facemelter of an opening song they had for the show:

https://youtu.be/gjbWDjzTM0A

The whole series is on YouTube for free BTW! Not a bad watch either. Still pretty fun, but certainly dated for the time.

That opening guitar still gets me decades later.

Does that say "Sir Ballin' wielded the Lance of Longpenis"?

Modern depictions aren't pron enough.

[–] RaptorBenn@lemmy.world 4 points 5 days ago (1 children)

How is this not one of 50000000 movies this could be.
