"He says he will require local law enforcement agencies that receive Justice Department grants to use controversial policing measures such as stop-and-frisk. As a deterrent, he says local police should be empowered to shoot suspected shoplifters in the act. “Very simply, if you rob a store, you can fully expect to be shot as you are leaving that store,” he said in one recent speech."

Literally just wants to turn it into a shithole country. Skipping chopping hands off and just skip to execution.

So out of curiosity, what does he say should happen to people who defraud banks and other investors by falsifying documents and ledgers?

[-] stoy@lemmy.zip 14 points 1 year ago

They should be sentenced to 50 weeks at a Trump golf club.

Surprisingly they get sent to bed early with a hot toddy and a BJ.

[-] CileTheSane@lemmy.ca 7 points 1 year ago

Sounds like they have money and as such should be above the law.

He says he will require local law enforcement agencies that receive Justice Department grants to use controversial policing measures such as stop-and-frisk.

So he wants to suspend/dismiss US Citizen's 4th Amendment right (as ruled by the US Supreme Court in Terry v. Ohio).

As a deterrent, he says local police should be empowered to shoot suspected shoplifters in the act.

And he wants to suspend/dismiss the 5th, 6th, and 14th amendments of the Constitution which is the "innocent until proven guilty" parts as well as Article I, Section 9 of the Constitution which guarantees the right of habeas corpus which is the right to a fair trial.

When trump said he had "no duty to support the Constitution" apparently he was truly showing us who he was.

To quote Maya Angelou:

"When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time."

"As long as I can still shoot things and be racist" - Republicans

[-] CileTheSane@lemmy.ca 7 points 1 year ago

"As long as they're shooting the right people"

  • Republicans
[-] PoliticalAgitator@lemm.ee 3 points 1 year ago

Apparently the new vocabulary is "vermin".

[-] CileTheSane@lemmy.ca 12 points 1 year ago

"When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time."

This also goes for the people who hear the things Trump is saying and continue to say he should be put in charge.

Whole world: let's get gun laws stricter

America: let's bring school shootings to the malls

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 20 points 1 year ago

Stealing a loaf of bread to feed your starving family, starving because of Trump's economic policies, will be a death sentence. Hooray.

[-] CileTheSane@lemmy.ca 23 points 1 year ago

being suspected of stealing a loaf of bread is a death sentence.

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 16 points 1 year ago

And I got into it in another thread with multiple people who still think Hillary would have been just as bad or worse than Trump. Baffling.

[-] ghostdoggtv@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

suspected

They don't even have to accuse you of nothing, they'll just shoot you dead from behind while you're trying to grab a box of cheerios from the shelf

[-] PunnyName@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

Turn into...?

[-] Furbag@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

Due process? What's that?

Republican's stopped reading after the second amendment.

The debates are going to be a trip.

Biden: “We’re investing in infrastructure and creating new jobs.”

Trump: “I’m bringing back concentration camps to own the libs.”

[-] GiddyGap@lemm.ee 48 points 1 year ago

Under the mantra “DRILL, BABY, DRILL,” he says he would ramp up oil drilling on public lands and offer tax breaks to oil, gas, and coal producers. He would roll back Biden administration efforts to encourage the adoption of electric cars and reverse proposed new pollution limits that would require at least 54% of new vehicles sold in the U.S. to be electric by 2030.

I wonder if Elon is still a fan.

[-] remotelove@lemmy.ca 41 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Of course he is. It's all about how loud and controversial the rhetoric is. It doesn't matter what is actually being said, but rather, it's about causing further division of the people. That allows people with the slightest bit of power to get more power without being seen.

[-] nova_ad_vitum@lemmy.ca 25 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

The rich person tax breaks he will pass (quietly, while making noise on other stuff)will ensure that it's a net gain for Elon. EV adoption isn't going to stop no matter what Trump does anyways. At most he can slow it down.

[-] Mateoto@lemmy.world 32 points 1 year ago

Honestly, you can read and understand a lot of Trump’s plan by examining Mussolini’s strategy for fascist Italy.

[-] SinningStromgald@lemmy.world 26 points 1 year ago

I didn't see shooting illegal immigrants as they cross the border but otherwise he's got a nearly full bingo card of rightwing nuttery wishlist items.

[-] Gbagginsthe3rd@aussie.zone 21 points 1 year ago

That was a wild read. We all know he is a Bullshitter though so who knows what will happen. America is on a wild ride. The rest of the world watches on as an empire slowly degrades pulling us down with them

[-] Madison420@lemmy.world 21 points 1 year ago

He will try, Hitler is his hero and this rhetoric bears striking similarity.

But now he's pissed off too.

[-] Treczoks@lemmy.world 21 points 1 year ago

Read this and you know his playbook.

[-] psmgx@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

I would have gone with the book "It Can't Happen Here", but that's just the fictional version of your link

[-] EdyBolos@lemmy.world 20 points 1 year ago

Omg, his ideas sound like straight out of a dystopian reality. Or probably fascism.

[-] TechNerdWizard42@lemmy.world 12 points 1 year ago

95% crazy, but federally funded mental hospitals? That sounds like a gateway project to univseral healthcare. I can't be outraged over that. Unless the "hospital" is where they put you in a padded cell and beat you with twigs until you convert to MAGA.

[-] psmgx@lemmy.world 10 points 1 year ago

We had those, one. Reagan and his homies defunded them.

Trump wants em back to lock up people he didn't like who didn't break any laws

[-] nixcamic@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Trump's platform has always been 95% crazy 5% that might actually work. But that 5% doesn't mean much because people who were so much worse have gotten more than 5% right haha. Like even Hitler and Stalin were at least 5%.

[-] KonalaKoala@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Well, the only way it can be much worse is if Trump's plans also include fediverse server raids, tariffs on fediverse usage, and mass fediverse admin arrests, which would most likely guarantee a lot more outrage here.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

But with less than a year until Election Day, Trump is dominating the race for the Republican nomination and has already laid out a sweeping set of policy goals should he win a second term.

His presidency, especially the early days, was marked by chaos, infighting and a wave of hastily written executive orders that were quickly overturned by the courts.

As part of that plan, he says he would immediately direct U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to undertake the largest domestic deportation operation in American history.

He would target people who are legally living in the United States but harbor “jihadist sympathies” and revoke the student visas of those who espouse anti-American and antisemitic views.

Trump wants to reimpose his travel ban that originally targeted seven Muslim-majority countries and expand it to “keep radical Islamic terrorists out of the country.” In the wake of the Hamas attack on Israel, he has pledged to put in place “ideological screening” for immigrants.

And again, he says, he will exit the Paris Climate Accords, end wind subsidies and eliminate regulations imposed and proposed by the Biden admiration targeting incandescent lightbulbs, gas stoves, dishwashers and shower heads.
