Now that billionaire Elon Musk has stepped away from his White House job as a "special government employee," DOGE staffers he brought on board are exiting too -- some not because they want to leave.

According to a report from the Washington Post's Faiz Siddiqui, Hannah Natanson, Cat Zakrzewski, Alex Horton and Elizabeth Dwoskin, the influence of DOGE is waning and Cabinet heads are hiring back employees who were dismissed during the mass purge initiated under Donald Trump's anti-government administration.

The Post is reporting, that Musk's influence with Trump's people has fallen apart since he and Trump have turned on each other with the billionaire going so far as to suggest there is information about the president in the Jeffrey Epstein files.

It's a wake up call to me how much power there is for the wealthy. No other type of person outside of government could have done what he did.

I've said this before and I'll say it again:

Imagine if this was a democrat presidency with a democrat controlled congress.

[–] jjjalljs@ttrpg.network 53 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Understanding the conservative mind means accepting "my group is good. when my group does something, it's good." That's it. Well, that and "whatever is good for me and mine right now is good".

There's no grand underlying theory or unifying thought. They're just assholes

[–] vaultdweller013@sh.itjust.works 14 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Or so propagandized that they are effectively brain damaged, my grandmother was raised by folks who were progressive Republicans and first voted in the 1800s for Theodore Roosevelt. She is still under the propagandized delusions that the modern Republican party is the same one her grand parents and great grandparents voted for.

But they actively vote for things that aren't good for them and theirs.

They’re just assholes

They're just stupid assholes.

"Help they're forcing us to have free healthcare and social safety nets."

[–] Yawweee877h444@lemmy.world 26 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Haha. We wish don't we.

Not the point I was making though. I'm saying if dems were doing what maga is doing now, Republicans would be in the streets with their assault rifles or something, the point is they wouldn't stand for this if it were dems, they're hypocrites.

But dems wouldn't be doing anything like this, as we all know.

Most people inside the government couldn't have either

Cabinet heads are hiring back employees who were dismissed during the mass purge

Hopefully they get to keep any redundancy payouts AND come back on higher wages. After all, if they’re being hired back then it shows their role was critical.

From Big Balls to “Ow! My Balls”

Shit. I know shit's bad right now, with all that starving bullshit, and the dust storms, and we are running out of french fries and burrito coverings. But I got a solution...

[–] ininewcrow@lemmy.ca 6 points 1 month ago

.... pretending the whole time that they have any balls

[–] antisocialite@lemmy.today 31 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Time for MAGA to accept that it was entirely a grift.

[–] Zachariah@lemmy.world 19 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I might not mind living in interesting times if the people who vote for Republicans would all realize they’ve been duped and choose to join the protests against the GOP politicians. If non-rich Americans could all work together, there’d be no stopping us.

[–] dragontamer@lemmy.world 10 points 1 month ago (2 children)

You can't even consistently convince liberals that Kamala is better than this shit. And you think adding a bunch of conservatives will help?

[–] Zachariah@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

I see your point. A way out of this that doesn’t require their support l would probably be quicker, but it would be far more peaceful and lasting if we get it.

He is. He can always go back popping pop corn at his dads company.

[–] CosmicTurtle0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 1 month ago

Because he is good at popping pop corn right? Because it was a meritorious hire. Right?

Right?

Come on Millennials, we use to be great at bullying. If we push hard enough, we could have a few suicides by the 4th of July. The rest of us can work on Musk. Maybe by labor day we can get thim.

Good! The idea that they were ever allowed in in the first place was kind of crazy.

Some 22 year old kid: "Yeah, I need access to all your employee records."

Correct answer: "GTFO!"

[–] lupusblackfur@lemmy.world 15 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Best news today... A bright spot.

GTFO!! Don't let the door slam on your ass on the way out!!

😂 🤣

[–] Sludgehammer@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

Well... here's the thing; once Mush's doggies are out, Trump is gonna put in his own cronies and they'll probably be agenda driven fanatics rather then Techbro fail sons. While I'm not sure, I think that a step worse?

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 month ago

While I’m not sure, I think that a step worse?

Two cheeks of the same ass.

[–] Lucelu2@lemmy.zip 10 points 1 month ago

Wow I could not muster up a shit to give about Musk and his Doge incels even if I ate Taco Bell.

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 8 points 1 month ago

Considering what they deserve, they're getting off lightly.

[–] ScrambledEggs@lazysoci.al 7 points 1 month ago

They shouldn't have been there in the first place. It's like removing a tumor.

[–] Kekzkrieger@feddit.org 6 points 1 month ago (3 children)

While i understand people need to have a job they shouldnt come back. I wouldnt. I hope all of then found something more worthwhile already

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

That would just generate more waste. The people who were dismissed already have all the relevant knowledge and skills and won't need to ~~rump~~ ramp up like a new hire.

Edit: Freud

[–] breakingcups@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago

That makes DOGE win.

[–] TachyonTele@lemm.ee 3 points 1 month ago

It's not like their boss fired them.

[–] painfulasterisk1@lemmy.ml 5 points 1 month ago

They should've been pushed out even if emotional Musk was present

[–] Bonus@piefed.social 4 points 1 month ago

Continuing saga of The Oops We Made A Mistake Party.

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 month ago

"Being pushed out"-- of a helicopter?

[–] ABetterTomorrow@lemm.ee 2 points 1 month ago

Can I see a raise of hands who saw that coming? I know we all did :P

[–] fox2263@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

Oh those poor employees
