Kevin Spacey will always be Kevin Spacey. I can't watch him act and see anything else but Kevin Spacey.

[–] Merlu@lemmy.ml 1 points 9 minutes ago* (last edited 8 minutes ago)

Personally, i can't dissociate him from Frank Underwood.

Steve Carell

[–] dessalines@lemmy.ml 2 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Christian Bale, Patrick Bateman.

[–] Merlu@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 hour ago

For me, he'll always be Bruce Wayne.

[–] Bongles@lemmy.zip 5 points 8 hours ago

Adult Danielle Radcliffe I don't really think "that's Harry Potter". Probably because the beard.

Wesley snipes is blade though.

[–] Carrolade@lemmy.world 25 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

Even when I see Elrond in LotR, that's actually just Agent Smith in a funny costume.

[–] hbar@lemmy.ml 6 points 14 hours ago

I always call him Agent Elf

[–] morphballganon@mtgzone.com 9 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

Seeing Wayne Knight in Jurassic Park, wondering why Newman is there

[–] lobut@lemmy.ca 1 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

What about 3rd Rock From The Sun? I think Newman fits in quite well there too.

[–] morphballganon@mtgzone.com 2 points 8 hours ago

It was a bit odd seeing him try to defuse a bomb in Die Hard With a Vengeance.

[–] hbar@lemmy.ml 20 points 18 hours ago

Vince Vaughn as Vince Vaughn in everything.

[–] selokichtli@lemmy.ml 9 points 16 hours ago

Jason Alexander.

[–] Vinny_93@lemmy.world 18 points 18 hours ago (2 children)

After Miracle Workers, Guns Akimbo and especially Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, Daniel Radcliffe is so much more than Harry Potter to me. He's got this almost Nicolas Cage-y vibe now

[–] JustinTheGM@ttrpg.network 13 points 17 hours ago

Don't forget Swiss Army Man!

[–] meyotch@slrpnk.net 4 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

In all those subsequent roles, I imagine they are all the same universe and Harry’s life just got really random.

[–] Scubus@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 hour ago

Harry potter and the multiverse of madness

[–] Witchfire@lemmy.world 4 points 13 hours ago

Sorry Aubrey Plaza, you will forever be an intern

[–] Sherad@lemmygrad.ml 4 points 14 hours ago (3 children)

Tom Cruise is just Tom Cruise to me, I never feel like he disappears into any kind of role - he's just Tom Cruise pretending to be someone else who happens to look and act similarly to Tom Cruise.

With one exception, that being Les Grossman from Tropic Thunder πŸ˜†

[–] DornerStan@lemmygrad.ml 3 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 1 hour ago)

Magnolia is probably his best performance, but hard to say how much of that is him disappearing into the role versus the role giving us a peek behind the mask lol

[–] Diddlydee@feddit.uk 2 points 14 hours ago

First, take a big step back... and literally, FUCK YOUR OWN FACE!

[–] scytale@lemmy.zip 1 points 14 hours ago

The same for me, but with Leonardo DiCaprio. I can never see him disappear into a role for some reason.

[–] falkerie71@sh.itjust.works 14 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, and Daniel Craig as James Bond.

[–] HootinNHollerin@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 17 hours ago* (last edited 1 hour ago)

He will always be a dude playing another dude, disguised as another dude, to me

[–] pipe01@programming.dev 8 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

Rami Malek will always be a hacker

[–] Brad@beehaw.org 2 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

He was ridiculously amazing as Freddie Mercury.

[–] kurcatovium@piefed.social 2 points 8 hours ago

I never knew Freddie was a hacker...

[–] Kennystillalive@feddit.org 11 points 18 hours ago (2 children)

Niel Patrick Harris will always be Barney Stinson.

[–] bjoern_tantau@swg-empire.de 6 points 15 hours ago

No, he is Dr Doogie Howser!

[–] Kennystillalive@feddit.org 5 points 18 hours ago

Honorable Mention: Morgan Freeman is God.

[–] BeatTakeshi@lemmy.world 11 points 19 hours ago (3 children)

Frodo, even if I was impressed in the movie Hooligan.

[–] Scubus@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 hour ago

In the last witch hunter, I predicted his character arc almost on sight. That resulted in me making a bunch of jokes to my girlfriend. "Who could do something like that?" "Elijah would" "i wonder who would have the motive?" "Elijah would"

Fuckin great

[–] ArgumentativeMonotheist@lemmy.world 5 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

Didn't even call him by his government name, lol.

[–] BeatTakeshi@lemmy.world 3 points 13 hours ago

Elijah Baggins

[–] Bonifratz@sh.itjust.works 3 points 18 hours ago

Same with Aragorn for me.

[–] Reverendender@sh.itjust.works 3 points 15 hours ago

Ryan Reynolds will always be Ryan Reynolds

[–] scintilla@beehaw.org 6 points 18 hours ago

RDJ just is iron man at this point. I saw him in Oppenheimer and was genuinely distracted by it.

[–] Nemo@slrpnk.net 3 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

Linda Cardinelli is always Lindsay Weir.

[–] Romkslrqusz@lemmy.zip 3 points 14 hours ago (1 children)
[–] Nemo@slrpnk.net 2 points 13 hours ago

Yeah, Seth Rogan, too. Jason Segel has broken that mold, though, at least to me. And so has James Franco.

[–] m532@lemmygrad.ml 1 points 14 hours ago

The voice actor for Marvi HΓ€mmer

[–] Noerknhar@feddit.org 3 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

Heath Ledger will always be the Joker.

[–] Oni_eyes@sh.itjust.works 20 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

I think you mean Sir Ulrich von Lichtenstein

[–] Strider@thelemmy.club 10 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

He's blond! He's pissed! He'll see you in the lists!

[–] Oni_eyes@sh.itjust.works 6 points 18 hours ago

Gah, what a great movie for a myriad of great actors. Prequels to Wash (Tudyk), King Baratheon (Addy), and Vision (Bettany)

[–] paultimate14@lemmy.world 1 points 15 hours ago

I can't hear Richard Horvitz without thinking of Invader Zim. He does a ton of random voices in the more recent Ratchet and Clank games and it's very distracting.

[–] hddsx@lemmy.ca 1 points 18 hours ago

McAdams as Regina

Seyfried as Karen
