When I was 6, I earned my pen licence at school.

Now as an adult, who do I need to prove my proficiency to in order to receive my wanking licence?

[–] bobs_monkey@lemmy.zip 11 points 1 week ago

The wank auditor will see you now.

[–] rayquetzalcoatl@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

Oh god I'm so nervous for my wanking practical test. I only just passed the wanking theory!

What prevents you from uploading a picture of someone else?

Greedy little pigboy.

You must show your id to access NSFW subreddits!

"oh no!"

changes www.reddit.com to old.reddit.com on the adress bar

"anyways"

Tho i remember when they removed compact reddit. But i think if they remove old.reddit.com, people will really start to leave, so they'll try to get rid of it quietly.

[–] Karjalan@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I do wonder how long they'll let old.reddit.com stay. I assume they don't want it but are worried about the backlash

[–] FriendBesto@lemmy.ml 1 points 6 days ago

Maybe. They could just let it rot. Let it break over time. Thus pushing people onto the new site.

Kids everywhere making deepfakes.

Well, that law aged like milk.

[–] electric_nan@lemmy.ml 18 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Several years ago, I tried making an Instagram account. It was locked immediately (on first log in). They good me to upload a selfie where I was also holding up my driver's license.

[–] bl4kers@lemmy.ml 11 points 1 week ago

This is still the case

[–] bacon_pdp@lemmy.world 18 points 1 week ago (5 children)

Come to the fediverse we have porn?

[–] schnurrito@discuss.tchncs.de 7 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yes, the federated model might make it somewhat harder for governments to enforce these kinds of laws. Until those governments catch up. 🙁

John Perry Barlow was right: https://www.eff.org/cyberspace-independence

[–] eldavi@lemmy.ml 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

balkanization of all types always seems to be the answer to these sorts of dystopian laws and i hope that it happens despite evidence contrary.

[–] IttihadChe@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 week ago

Yes...we should balkanize the UK and US.

[–] MachineFab812@discuss.tchncs.de 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I seem to remember only <7 instances allowing porn posts when I joined up. As a practical matter, I don't remember the last time I saw porn posted from any instance besides lemmynsfw.com

TL;DR: Porn on Lemmy is as centralized and easilly squashed by regulation as anywhere else.

[–] Nighed@feddit.uk 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yeh, but it's available through your instance even though it's hosted there.....

Unsure how that is meant to work legally.

If this law says in place and is actually enforced all fediverse instances will need to start verifying age for UK users too.

[–] Ibuthyr@feddit.org 3 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Is that so? Why would anyone with an instance from another country give a shit about UK law? Honest question, I have no clue about these kind of laws.

[–] Vendetta9076@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 week ago

The answer is if they don't theyre supposed to be blocked in the UK. Which... Who cares. Everyone on here can use a vpn

[–] then_three_more@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago (4 children)

They'll get blocked in the UK. Which, to be honest for a non profit fediverse instance isn't going to be a bad thing as they'll loose traffic alongside any donations. Expect UK based instances to start doing something for their users. But there's lots of other verification options they could use.

With 72 years it is insulting for me to have to prove my age and the only thing they will prove will be my middle finger 😡

[–] pineapple@lemmy.ml 5 points 1 week ago

This is horrible, I remember they did the same thing with Facebook marketplace (only for everything not only NSFW lol) although you can just use a random AI generated face.

[–] DieserTypMatthias@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 week ago

They'll probably VPN to mainland Europe to sign up for their account.
