People forget what a ridiculously large steaming market India is.

The second biggest YT channel by subscriber base is T-Series.

India has been the South Asian version of the US for almost a decade. Modhi just isn't openly stupid sounding, but equally supports and is supported by extremist Hindu groups.

Modi has been in office since before Trump's first term.

ETA - he was also elected despite him being complicit in an anti-Muslim pogrom in 2002 being public knowledge.

I'm aware, and that fact only lends credence to what I said to another responder in that humans are the same everywhere you go - it's only the specific variances that are mostly due to culture that differ. Also keep in mind that in America the Republicans have been working to take over the country since the 1970s - more recent events are just the inevitable result of the dam finally bursting. I wouldn't be surprised to learn there were similar forces at work in India.

There are similar forces at work everywhere.

Crimes pays, and the criminal oligarchs in every economy prefer dictatorship to democracy.

Meh. I'd say it's more variance in method than an actual disparity in quality. Humans are basically the same everywhere you go: some small percentage are truly great, a similar (but seemingly larger) percentage are the truly evil, and the rest are varying degrees in between. The differences are mostly cultural in nature.
