Me: gets home. “Giiiiiibsoooooon”. Silence.

“Giiiibsoooooooon”.

Faint meowing

Look around

Loud, sad meowing

Open the blind

There’s Gibson outside looking very unhappy.

Rescue Gibson from the cruel outdoors. Is somehow both happy to be saved and annoyed I’m carrying her.

Once inside, hassles me for treats in .002 seconds

Note to self: replace the fly screen on the bathroom window.

The culprit in her natural habitat

Lucky gibson didn't have a run in with the outdoor kitty gang.

I would put my monies on gibson though

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Traffic over the westgate was horrible this evening. Three and a half hours to get home. I was very happy to finally get to the toilet after that. The nice bit was that I got to see all the sky pretty today - sunrise over fog, hot air balloons and the lights of Melbourne this morning, sunset with both pretty colours and the light illuminating clouds from below on the way home.

Going go-karting on Sunday with friends for a bit of fun. Not a competition but I plan on winning.

Movies/shows/music where someone involved is a shitty person but their art is great?

I'm watching Ferris Bueller's Day Off, and I almost don't want to because Matthew Broderick hit and killed two people and only paid a $150 USD fine.

John Lennon. Great song writer. Alleged wife beater and adulterer.

Arthur C Clarke's science fiction. A damn fine scientist and science communicator - a thoroughly nasty human being. Love his books, but I don't want EVER to meet him in real life.

Hard to watch anything with Kevin Spacey in it (especially because I find it weird his accusers died 👀), but I'll still watch Se7en because I love Fincher films and that one is in my top 10.

I loathe Taylor Swift. I dislike the lyricism of her songs, they feel so "I'm 14 and this is deep", she smears her exs in her music while having them sign NDAs, she's dating a known moron and MAGA supporter, giving up the façade of being a feminist.

And she's a billionaire. I think billionaires should either be forced to give up their wealth or face execution by stoning.

Scenic rail with unlimited drinks and a cute little cheese plate. Worse ways to spend a Thursday afternoon.

Feeling better today. Back to the norm which works for me.

Have an appointment next week to review what’s happening with sleep and what can be done to deal with it.

The night I have a full nights sleep, I’ll be going out to celebrate the next day lol

Why is it that my security camera sometimes fails to miss things like a person walking up to the door but today it has notified me of a crow on the driveway?

[–] underwatermagpies@aussie.zone 7 points 1 month ago

Crows are inherently suspicious.

Lots of running (driving) around for gifts and things today. Used to be so much more excited about hunting down truly local gifts from Melbourne but idk these days I haven't got the energy.

Leo's in Kew is apparently closing down - after the Heidelberg one was shuttered - so that's a big loss of random imported fancy groceries. Gonna grab my Monsieur Truffe for the last time in a long time I guess...

sigh I came home for a pit stop that lasted 45 minutes but it's time to get my arse in motion again before traffic becomes deathly

another day of resting so my back can get better , just to be safe, I really hate this 😔

in good news I have been reading books all week, I've been buying books the past few years I know I want to read so now I can just go to my home library. I've read some short books on Australian landscape painters ( am further motivated to start art classes ) and am also dipping into Past Imperfect, History According to the Movies, which is fun, interesting and informative.

and today the weather is beautiful and mild, the sun warm and the sea breeze smells nice 😊

spoilerI’m really annoyed that currently my options are very processed expensive products but the more whole food options cause me issues or I’m intolerant. I love vegetables and legumes but cannot digest them. At this point I’m just trying to find anything I can eat.

More tofu has also been boughten and maybe I’ll invest in a blender.

Game censorshipI’m really disappointed that Mouthwashing (Warning! implied NSFW, graphic images of injuries) is among the games being cracked down on. It’s a confronting horror game with heavy themes but not cheap shock value at all.

The violence, severe injuries and implied (offscreen) sexual assault are a commentary on workplace safety and the lack of accountability in abusive work environments.

It’s a mature game in every sense of the word.

Edit: It’s also ironic that this brouhaha is just spreading the content to wider audiences. I didn’t know what half of these games were before the Steam crackdowns invoked the Streisand effect

Are you within range of a Cheaper Buy Miles? They often have loads of vegan stuff. If you need to dietary experiment it mighT be worth a go.

When the Sirena Tuna ad comes on and it's just me and the dog, I like to serenade him with the tune.

🎶 Just the two of us we can make it if we try. Just the two of us. Just the two of us.

He gives me nothing back.

Back at the doctors but at a new different clinic.

Decided to wear an Ugg boot on one foot but I’ll need to buy a new one as this one’s breaking apart.

I might be able to get away with wearing an Ugg boot to work.

Anyway more to see what information I can get and how to treat it as it wasn’t really given to me properly from the other clinic I went to which could have potentially saved the nail.

I think I’m consigned to losing it now.

[–] Thornburywitch@aussie.zone 5 points 1 month ago (4 children)

Not the end of the world if you do. Just keep the nailbed clean and protected from bangs and bruises. Wide bandaids worked for me. Have lost a toenail before - it's painful but the nail grows back just fine. You might need one of those foam "corn protectors" inside your socks to protect the toe from rubbing on your shoes.

The amount of loud and inconsiderate assholes in my co-working office today is unreal. Phone calls in open plan area instead of phone booths. A team of people I've never seen before sitting near me who think I want to hear their conversations and are not capable of using meeting rooms. When I arrived this morning, one of them was sitting at my desk using my monitor. I politely pointed out MY monitor and cables are not common property and asked them to move. Food crumbs left on my desk once they moved. I can barely concentrate even with headphones on.

I think it's time to move somewhere else. I'm starting to not enjoy coming here, which defeats the purpose of paying for a membership.

Edit - add several people watching a video on a laptop on loudspeaker.

[–] Taleya@aussie.zone 4 points 1 month ago (2 children)

report them to the management, they tend to look very dimly on behaviour that drives other customers away

I got the game Hundred Line for my girlfriend a while ago and I swear it's "Video games when mum walks in: the video game".

Not every line of dialogue is voiced, so the characters just make these moaning and grunting noises, which can sound like something else when you're speeding through dialogue

Took the day off yesterday, had an out office message on teams and email, come back today to several people sending me messages and asking for a quick reply.

We really need to bring the R word back from the 90s for such individuals. There's other names we can call them, but none of those are harsh enough.

Small things: Feeling really shitty about losing my YouTube playlists. Wondering if I should screenshot for the songs that are hard to search by name but that’s a lot of clutter to go through. And I wonder if the internet friends I’ve sent my email address to will actually stay in touch once I’m off social media.

Big things: I’m looking at Melbcat’s nose and just fretting.

spoilerI know these things are slow growing and probably most of the damage happened in the 13 years of her being a semi-outside cat before I adopted her. But I still let her sunbathe in the backyard, and after becoming an indoor kitty she was allowed to bask in the sun through the window. I looked into pet sunscreen back then but the options didn’t have great ingredients.

I’m ordering some now and she’ll be wearing it for her sunbeams this summer.
