Listen: you jump into a dungeon in the hopes that it's going to lead to a better life in any way and not misery and death you are an idiot. Adventurers are self selected to be idiots.

[–] Zephorah@discuss.online 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

It’s like the adventurer party that shows up at your keep in NWN1, looking for work.

[–] VindictiveJudge@lemmy.world 10 points 1 month ago

NWN2, actually. NWN1 didn't have any kind of base to operate out of. NWN2 is also the one that did the meta stuff.

[–] WorldsDumbestMan@lemmy.today 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Well, some of us might value our lives very little, so...there's also that.

[–] roguetrick@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago

That's true. Some are suicidal idiots. Still idiots because there are better methods of suicide.

Forgot to mention the absolutely incredible alt text:

Text

At the top is written "Average D&D Party:"

A stern warrior clad in iron armor, with a billowing red cape and a red cloth tied around his waist. His hands rest on the handle of a very wide sword, the tip of which stands on the ground in front of him. He is labeled "Warrior on a just and noble quest to defeat an existential threat to the world that they live in."

A girl with messy, blonde hair, and a bronze chestplate sewn directly onto her sleeveless shirt. She has a white ribbon tying a small messy ponytail at the back top of her hair, and is wearing tall boots with bronze arcs attached to the top of the foot parts. She is carrying a large bronze hammer, and a large bronze shield with a very upset-looking face engraved on it. She herself has an innocent expression. She is labeled "Idiot".

A woman clad in purple with a long-sleeved shirt with symmetrical holes on the arms and torso. She has pointed ears, like an elf, and is wearing gold earings and two gold necklaces. She also wears a dress that looks somewhat like a lamp cover with a spider-web pattern on it, and has a strap that wraps around her shoulder. She wears a placid, pretty expression, but behind her in low opacity is her face distorted with mischief and hate. She is labeled "Manipulator".

A small mage dressed in green with yellow details, and with a long, frilly mage hat featuring a poofy yellow flower on the forehead area. She also wears an equally frilly green cloak held together by a star shaped button, and golds a lightning bolt shaped spellcasting staff. She has an innocent expression, but sharp teeth and two side-ponytails peaking out from beneath her hat. She is labeled "Other, Smaller Idiot".

She wears a placid, pretty expression

That is not how I'd describe her expression. To me, that expression looks smug/condescending/knowing

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 11 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Yeah, the eyes and smirk give it away. She has this energy:

[–] fushuan@piefed.blahaj.zone 7 points 1 month ago

We now know which kind of Yuri Shen likes :)

[–] hex@programming.dev 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

This seems like an ai description

[–] belluck@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)
[–] hex@programming.dev 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

The long, drony, dry delivery of it. I may be wrong.

[–] belluck@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Just seems like a regular image description to me. I’m pretty sure Shen is anti-AI, so it wouldn’t make sense for him to use AI for this.

[–] hex@programming.dev 2 points 1 month ago

Ok, thanks for the info.

@aihorde@lemmy.dbzer0.com draw for me At the top is written “Average D&D Party:” A stern warrior clad in iron armor, with a billowing red cape and a red cloth tied around his waist. “AI accidentally made me believe in the concept of a human soul by showing me what art looks like without it.”

-unknown

[–] cjoll4@lemmy.world 10 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Of all the things for the AI to mess up, I wouldn't have expected inconspicuous typos. "A" instead of "an," "orld" instead of "world"

[–] sukhmel@programming.dev 2 points 1 month ago

Soon we will be labelling pictures from grammatically challenged people ‘AI’, whilst simultaneously labelling text from people not making enough spelling errors and using things like ellipsis (…) or em dash (—) also ‘AI’

[–] WorldsDumbestMan@lemmy.today 5 points 1 month ago

Poor warrior is getting ganked by idiots after being framed. All because he was too busy thinking about his quest.

[–] BroBot9000@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

Disgusting Slop without passion or soul

[–] Zorsith@lemmy.blahaj.zone 25 points 1 month ago

Other, smaller, more destructive idiot

[–] janonymous@lemmy.world 20 points 1 month ago (3 children)

I feel like the compulsive thief is missing

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

And the murder hobo (sometimes the same person).

[–] CheeseNoodle@lemmy.world 10 points 1 month ago

Their absence is why the idiots look so happy.

[–] DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social 2 points 1 month ago

Smaller idiot usually takes that role, but all are known to indulge

[–] NocturnalMorning@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

Our campaign is missing a thief! But otherwise, this is spot on for our current line up

[–] Susaga@sh.itjust.works 20 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

The warrior went on a noble, world-saving quest, and they joined up with two idiots and a manipulator. Sounds like he's not even smart enough to realise he's also an idiot.

Meanwhile, the manipulator teamed up with three idiots, who she can probably manipulate easily. She's going places.

[–] DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

And then they save the world and universe, so the warrior gets everything they want (plot permitting) while the manipulator (character) can simply never out-manipulate the DM who decides what reality is?

[–] Susaga@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 month ago

Nah, they all get what they want. The world is saved, the idiot got the final blow and is hailed as a hero, the manipulator swindled a massive reward for their efforts, and the second idiot ate the reward. Or, more likely, the campaign falls apart long before they get to that bit.

[–] Vitaly_Chernobyl@sopuli.xyz 14 points 1 month ago

This was pretty much my last DND group except maybe replace the manipulator with another idiot.

[–] CaptainBlagbird@lemmy.world 14 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)
  • Strong idiot
  • Small idiot
  • Old idiot
  • Horny idiot
  • Stealthy idiot
  • Tough idiot
[–] sukhmel@programming.dev 9 points 1 month ago

You forgot the ~~thief~~ rogue trying to steal everything from everyone and making them hostile towards the whole party half of the time

[–] apotheotic@beehaw.org 8 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Where's the acespec slut

Or are they just one of the idiots

I guess I'm just one of the idiots ._.

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 8 points 1 month ago

I'm usually the Evil Idiot. Like a Saturday morning cartoon villain.

[–] OhStopYellingAtMe@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago

I always wind up playing The Manipulator (aka The Smart One). Even when I’d rather play The Idiot.

The group I play with… they’re not dumb, but I am much better at puzzles & problem solving. So if I try to play a character who wouldn’t know how to get out of this-or-that situation, or wouldn’t know how to solve a puzzle, I wind up subtly nudging my cohorts into the right answers, and even then they don’t get my hints and I wind up outwardly handling the situation that my dimwitted character shouldn’t be able to handle.

[–] Kyle_The_G@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I always play a warlock, awesome backstory potential with the patron mechanic. That and eldritch blast is the best cantrip.

[–] Almonds@mander.xyz 3 points 1 month ago

I always say eldritch blast like Falcon Punch in my head

[–] saltesc@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago

I generally play a bard. I'm an annoying idiot. No, no... A frustrating annoying idiot.

[–] JackbyDev@programming.dev 1 points 1 month ago

I'm the first two. My character is a himbo.

[–] Graycliff@ttrpg.network 1 points 1 month ago

When I ran Savage Pathfinder, the characters ended up along almost exactly these lines.
