Oooohhhh so THAT'S what you use it for!!!

Silly me, using it to store greens and fruit when it was a marinating drawer.... How did I not think of this before?i

[–] gray@lemmy.ml 29 points 5 days ago

Pro tip: use it for both. For extra marination.

[–] toofpic@lemmy.world 15 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I also never thought of that, but this actually makes a lot of sense - having the same, but in some bowl, would take up more space in the fridge. You just have to wash the container before and after

[–] thesystemisdown@lemmy.world 12 points 5 days ago

Those drawers pull all the way out if you want to them to. :)

[–] TomMasz@piefed.social 48 points 5 days ago (1 children)

This is ingenious and profoundly disturbing at the same time.

I also wonder if they're still alive.

[–] Bruhh@lemmy.world 25 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I would hope the turkey is dead before being submerged

[–] TomMasz@piefed.social 8 points 5 days ago

It certainly would be afterwards.

[–] moseschrute@lemmy.zip 50 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Did they empty the fridge for the photo, or do they only keep a marinating turkey in their fridge

[–] lemmyman@lemmy.world 73 points 5 days ago (1 children)

It's their marinating fridge

[–] tiramichu@sh.itjust.works 14 points 5 days ago

Obviously! What else would you use?

[–] Remember_the_tooth@lemmy.world 50 points 5 days ago

Risky Recipes: A cookbook.

Honestly, I don't hate this idea. As long as you wash it before and after, Its kind of convenient to not have a giant bowl of marinade taking up most of the fridge.

[–] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 33 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I’d still rather put it in a plastic bag. Better coverage with less marinade.

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 21 points 5 days ago (2 children)

the big plastic bucket was going to leech less?

[–] fmstrat@lemmy.nowsci.com 6 points 5 days ago

Most likely. Repeated creasing of a bag sheds much more than a rigid surface. It's the same reason why you shouldn't squeeze single-use plastic water bottles (or really buy them to begin with).

[–] FinalRemix@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Of course it was. We all know the Home Depot branded bucket leeches the least.

oh i thought we were just using the old kitty litter bucket we hosed out a few times

Remove from bag before cooking.

[–] onslaught545@lemmy.zip 22 points 5 days ago (2 children)

It's a good idea if you want your fridge to be covered in salmonella.

[–] MarriedCavelady50@lemmy.ml 7 points 5 days ago

So cling wrap the top at a minimum. Then fill wipe down afterwards.

For all the trouble I’d just triple bag the turkey

[–] Honytawk@feddit.nl 5 points 5 days ago

A marinade drawer is a separate container from the rest, sweety

[–] lobut@lemmy.ca 15 points 5 days ago (1 children)

The thing is, I don't know how to open or close that drawer without spilling the liquid.

[–] Fiivemacs@lemmy.ca 19 points 5 days ago

drill a hole in the top shelf and use a straw

[–] Knock_Knock_Lemmy_In@lemmy.world 12 points 5 days ago (2 children)

I have trouble imagining how I remove this from the fridge without spilling anything on the floor.

[–] WereCat@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago

Why would you eant to remove it?

[–] Routhinator@startrek.website 8 points 4 days ago
[–] darkreader2636@lemmy.zip 16 points 5 days ago (1 children)

oh i'm actually at a loss of words

[–] wabafee@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago

I'm just dead.

[–] TheThrillOfTime@lemmy.ml 14 points 5 days ago

Imagine getting killed for this joke
