A bit of Y2K era sound system appreciation on LGR! This Sharp was my first "real" stereo as a teenager, and I recently found a new one still sealed in its box from 25 years ago! So I bought it to relive some of the experience I first had at the turn of the millennium. Unfortunately, I also experienced the expected disappointments of using such a thing a quarter century later.

Personally i recently tried one of those old hifi stereo units and was massively impressed by the sound quality.

That said, i tested it with a CD instead of streaming to it. Massive quality difference between digital and cd playback

But CDs are just smaller records 😜

I have a pretty nice movie theater setup. I was streaming Spotify to it (at max bitrate) and always felt like something was off. I hooked up my turntable and was blown away by the difference, flac files did the same. Compression sucks lol.
