TERFs will just make shit up. It’s absolutely unhinged. Rowling also has them denying that Nazis killed trans people - they’ve started to claim that the Nazis issued “transvestite passes” (which the Weimar Republic did - famously not the Nazi government) based on a book of photographs someone published of Nazi soldiers doing drag.

The Nazis tortured and murdered trans people. Some did drag because they thought it was funny, heck the US military did official drag shows during WW2. People do drag because it’s funny, that doesn’t mean they accept trans people. It’s unhinged how willing people are to lie and spread the lies of others in order to justify their hate.

how willing people are to lie and spread the lies of others in order to justify their hate.

It's simply the required narrative not to call themselves monsters. The bigger the horror, the bigger the lie.

[–] luminaree@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Yep doing drag shows because it's funny is the opposite of accepting trans people. It mocks them, and women too.

[–] andros_rex@lemmy.world 15 points 2 days ago (1 children)

It’s a performance art, and like any other form of performance it can be used to be shitty, but it’s not inherently mocking of women or trans people. Some of the stuff I’ve seen on RuPaul has made me cringe, but I’ve also seen queens that dress up like church marms and do a Betty Bowers/old school Colbert skewering of the Christian right.

[–] luminaree@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I agree, I wasn't referring to actual drag performances, but to men dressing up as women only because they think it's funny!

[–] kerrigan778@lemmy.blahaj.zone 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I don't really necessarily have a problem even then. Manly men dressing up in dresses is funny because it pokes fun at masculinity, not at trans people.

[–] luminaree@lemmy.world 0 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I think it makes more fun of feminity than masculinity.

[–] kerrigan778@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 12 hours ago

Granted it does both for sure.

[–] Duke_Nukem_1990@feddit.org 10 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Hey now, drag queens and kings aren't the enemy.

[–] luminaree@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

To be clear I never meant to imply that they were, I wasn't talking about actual drag performances. I was talking about men dressing up as women because they think it's funny.

Pascal is loved and will not tolerate people talking shit about his trans sister.

Rowling at this point subsists on a half assed crumbling potter legacy she's using to fund transphobia. She went after tennant and since that backfired bigtime her calvary of fuckos are now trying Pascal. It will end just as badly and they will never learn

[–] Darleys_Brew@lemmy.ml 20 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Thing is the Potter legacy wouldn’t be crumbling, at least not as much, if she hadn’t chosen to be a complete dickhead.

You can't go after Tennant 'cause he'll just hop in the TARDIS and undo every point you tried to make

Who the fuck cares. He seems like a good dude and we all know she’s a complete piece of shit. Let’s not give her or her shitbag followers oxygen.

[–] sharkfucker420@lemmy.ml 215 points 3 days ago (1 children)

He also spoke up about palestine so that could have something to do with it

[–] frosty99c@midwest.social 167 points 3 days ago (2 children)

He's a relative of the Allende family. He spent his childhood as a refugee after the US installed Pinochet and his family had to flee Chile. Idk why his anti imperialism would shock anyone.

[–] HugeNerd@lemmy.ca 16 points 2 days ago

US "installed"? Surely not, only bad countries do such things. The US of A is the only beacon of light and freedom and democracy and justice and Good Values^(TM)^ in this world.

The fact that people take JK Rowling seriously saddens me.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 53 points 3 days ago

no they defend her, because shes the terf-queen, transphobes stick together.

[–] Pavidus@lemmy.world 154 points 3 days ago

All my homies vote for Pedro.

[–] msmc101@lemmy.blahaj.zone 82 points 3 days ago

yeah he's a great fella as far as we know, his sister is trans and he's a very vocal critic of JKR and other terfs

[–] fox2263@lemmy.world 62 points 3 days ago (7 children)

Some people also don’t like it when someone is “overexposed” and in everything. They liked it when he was on the rise, in Game of Thrones and then he broke out with Mandalorian. People were happy because he played the role keeping the helmet on 99% of the season…especially flying in the face of the Halo series a while later.

But because he was now “popular” and appearing in more films and shows, this is bad now.

For some anyway. Not me. I love him still.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 52 points 3 days ago (1 children)

its because he supports his trans sibling, the current flavor of hate is transphobia of right wingers.

can someone fill me in please, I missed the while situation save a couple memes.

[–] Mostly_Gristle@lemmy.world 116 points 3 days ago (3 children)

Pedro Pascal's sister is a trans woman. He has been publicly very vocal on the subject of trans rights and inclusion. Consequently, a lot of transphobes, chuds, and miscellaneous fascists have been targeting him for a while and trying to smear his reputation any way they can. I don't really pay much attention to celebrity stuff so I don't know to what extent JK Rowling is personally involved in that, but given that she has been a very outspoken anti-trans bigot for some time, I would not be surprised to learn she was egging her followers on to that end.

[–] lectricleopard@lemmy.world 54 points 3 days ago (4 children)

Heaven forbid someone even suggests JK isn't an advertiser freindly content creator over her hate speech. Expect the full Karen free speech rant.

Pascal supports his family member, and these troglodytes make it their mission to prevent him from making a living.

I have a rule of thumb in life. If it reminds me of Nazi rhetoric, I stay far away. It is rarely applicable but crucial when it is. I forget sometimes that there are people that not only dont think the same as me, they actually think the opposite.
