Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). 3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. 4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

How could you even compare South Park to the Simpsons?

The Simpsons is sometimes political. South Park is always highly political.

As a Canadian, the moment they went to paramount, the show was basically done. It disappeared from syndication and every other platform. And after all the tegridy farms stuff, I got bored of the show.

This trump stuff is the only South Park I’ve seen in years

[–] djvinniev77@lemmy.ca 15 points 15 hours ago

Aw come on, guy?

[–] NeptuneOrbit@lemmy.world 10 points 15 hours ago

Go watch Andor

[–] Blackfeathr@lemmy.world 71 points 23 hours ago

Matt and Trey are killing it this season. And the best part is they own the IP so they can tell Paramount/Skydance to go fuck themselves at their leisure.

How long until Trump outlaws it?

[–] WizardofFrobozz@lemmy.ca 20 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

He doesn’t have to. Someone at some point will preemptively comply. Most of what’s happening in the US now isn’t anyone being compelled by law- it’s a bunch of cowards bending over and submissively obeying what they assume Trump may well want them to do.

I've been predicting since the election that sooner or later, Disney and Netflix are gonna purge all their LGBT content. I'm surprised it hasn't happened yet. Good thing Trump doesn't care about movies and TV as much as I do.

[–] tehn00bi@lemmy.world 13 points 18 hours ago (2 children)

More like how long until the creators are jailed in gitmo.

[–] Lucidlethargy@sh.itjust.works 4 points 7 hours ago

Don't worry, they're rich.

The class war supercedes the others. Wealth wins in this shitty world.

[–] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 6 points 16 hours ago

I don't watch South Park but I do watch CNN's Have I Got News For You and I'm very worried for the stars of that show

[–] xc2215x@lemmy.world 50 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

Trump made South Park more relevant.

[–] ThePantser@sh.itjust.works 36 points 23 hours ago (3 children)

Seems like every time a Republican is in office SP gets better.

I just want Stephen colbert to bring back the colbert report

[–] meco03211@lemmy.world 5 points 18 hours ago (2 children)

Didn't Stephen Colbert of the Colbert Report die? I thought Stephen Colbert of Late Night tried to bring that Stephen Colbert in for a segment and Viacom threw a hissy fit.

[–] foggy@lemmy.world 7 points 16 hours ago

Parody the parody 🤷‍♂️

Stephen colbert?

Noooo. Stephan Colbert. Hard t.

[–] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 17 hours ago

Maybe now that they're canceling him he can bring it back. Unless Paramount owns it through Comedy Central even after all these years..

[–] _wizard@lemmy.world 15 points 20 hours ago (2 children)

Kind of waiting for punk music to do it's things.

[–] sausager@lemmy.world 3 points 15 hours ago

If only Justin Sane didn't turn out to be a POS. Could really use Anti-Flag right about now.

[–] fstrelok@midwest.social 2 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

Seriously though, where is the punk resurgence from the Bush era?

[–] dickalan@lemmy.world 1 points 13 hours ago

Soon as he got too big, it would be co-opted by another music genre mixed in by a music company demanding a different change to the sound

[–] paraphrand@lemmy.world 2 points 18 hours ago* (last edited 18 hours ago)

The first seasons that had ongoing story arcs were great IMO. But I’m also someone who hates/hated early south park.

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 9 points 18 hours ago (5 children)

Can I watch the new season on SouthPark.com or is it only on shit-ass Paramount+? Cuz that app has literally never worked for me.

[–] quick_snail@feddit.nl 3 points 11 hours ago

I recommend the Stemio app. It's free.

[–] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 17 points 17 hours ago* (last edited 17 hours ago) (1 children)

I typically find it via alternative distribution at fmhy.net

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 3 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

My only other alternative to the official SP site would be piracy. The website is only slightly more convenient as I wouldn't have to download it before watching.

[–] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 17 hours ago* (last edited 17 hours ago) (1 children)

Fmhy stands for "free media heck yeah" and MIGHT have links to places where you could pirate it without having to download first.

Of course, I could not confirm anything of the sort in a .world community, in that purely hypothetical scenario.

[–] AtariDump@lemmy.world 1 points 15 hours ago

Stupid .world

[–] P00ptart@lemmy.world 1 points 13 hours ago

It's on Fandango

[–] igg@lemmy.world 1 points 15 hours ago

it is on comedy central if you have that channel (you may need to watch live or record it though)

[–] naught@sh.itjust.works 2 points 18 hours ago (6 children)

as much as i enjoy their feud with streaming services and trump, i find the new stuff to be remarkably unfunny

[–] quick_snail@feddit.nl 7 points 11 hours ago

I thought the ChatGPT stuff was brilliant.

He's not your guy, fwend!

[–] naught@sh.itjust.works 3 points 16 hours ago

I'm relaxed!! I was just disappointed :(

[–] sausager@lemmy.world 6 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

This is the wrongest option I have ever seen

[–] naught@sh.itjust.works 2 points 15 hours ago

i can respect that

[–] wheezy@lemmy.ml 2 points 13 hours ago* (last edited 13 hours ago)

I agree. Ironically it's hitting hard with a lot people that stopped watching it and came back for the Trump stuff.

The ironic part being that it's funny to people because of nostalgia and not really the jokes I think. Because it's really fucking lazy imo. Like, is the Sadam/Satan and using that voice anything but just trying to hit the "remember this" really hard? Its not creative or really making a point. Though people try to act like it is.

South Parks previous mockery with the 'member berries could literally be used to criticize how a lot of liberals are taking "comfort" in it. Seeing it as a "this too shall pass" and that we'll somehow return to normal in 2028 or something.

I have no problems with people that enjoy it. But it's not funny to me AND i see it not moving the needle at all in getting people to do anything to resist these fascist. So I really can't appreciate it on literally the two things people act like it's doing.

[–] dickalan@lemmy.world 2 points 13 hours ago

The first two kind of sucked, but this third one about ChatGPT kind of ruled

[–] Narwhalrus@lemmy.world 3 points 15 hours ago

I agree, though I'm not yet sure if it's the show being different than it was a decade or so ago or me being different.
