Some additional context from the Medrunner Discord:

For years, Medrunner has been the target of false flag operations and misinformation campaigns. These actions aim to damage our reputation and mislead players about who we are and what we stand for.

Recently our community asked us to respond to these claims and the result is the following blogpost: https://www.medrunner.space/post/separating-fact-from-fiction-the-reality-behind-attacks-on-players-by-medrunner

Please share it with your friends within the Star Citizen community. Thank you for your understanding and for helping us maintain a strong and supportive community!

Man, I've seen mentions of this here and there in the past but having things get to a point of needing to release a public statement like this sucks. Social tools and proper reputation system can't come soon enough.

Yeah, Eve Online made it easy for individuals, corporations, and alliances to all assign reputation to other players, organizations, and alliances.

It was very easy to tell who you should avoid, and who you could trust (in Null Sec at least).

Kill reports are made publicly available for anyone to review, so you don't have to rely on screen recordings.

I'm hoping those systems come online soon. We were supposed to get them this year (before they made the focus on bug fixes and stability).

Until then, if you're using the official Medrunner portal, you should be able to trust anyone rescuing you.
