2020 was objectively much worse than 2023

[-] rockerface@lemm.ee 66 points 11 months ago

Not here in Ukraine it wasn't

[-] protist@mander.xyz 20 points 11 months ago

You're right about that

[-] Kusimulkku@lemm.ee 18 points 11 months ago

I thought 2020 was really chill. Great time spending time with my girlfriend at home

Probably wasn't as chill for you

Depends on how many windows they had opened.

2021 for me. Was so bad, the pandemic was background noise. Lot of death coupled with natural disasters and basically losing everything and people that shaped my life. All in 6 different major events in 5 months. Got everyone through it, though. Only after enough time of feeling safe for almost a year was I able to feel vulnerable enough to break down and get enough of it out.

I'll always love 2021 because it shattered me and I recollected into a person that can't even connect with their past self anymore. When bad things happen, I feel so lucky that I'm fortunate enough to be experiencing it. It's hard to explain, but experiencing all life has to offer is fulfilling.

My 2021 was the same. Unbelievable amount of loss that impacted nearly every aspect of my life. I didn’t really get through it, though. I’m still working on it.

I’m very glad you survived all that, and I’m also very sorry. I don’t know what else to say.

I never got any time off of work and generally did pretty well in 2020., Now I'm still working nonstop but also really struggling to pay my bills. 2023 was worse for my family, no question.

I got laid off in 2019 and bought a school bus to convert into a motorhome. 2020 passed me by almost without notice - I was doing the same shit I would have done anyway.

But it still hasent gotten any better :(

You can't take not getting worse granted these days. What a wonderful world we live in.

[-] doingless@lemmy.world 6 points 11 months ago

I used to take not getting worse for granted. It's getting worse though.

"today is the best day of the rest of your life."

It is a lot better in the USA. We don't have riots across the nation, we don't have fires across the nation, we don't have a petulant trust fund baby sitting in the oval office, and we don't have insurrectionists actively swarming Capitol Hill. 2020 was by far the worst condition I've ever seen this country in during my entire life.

Snowy is so excited about getting that beer

[-] ChickenLadyLovesLife@lemmy.world 3 points 11 months ago

Wasn't Snowy getting fucked up a regular gag in the books?

[-] LesserAbe@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago

Yeah I think you're right

It's crazy. I thought the covid years were hard, but 2023 turned out hard in steroids for me. I hope everyone is doing fine.

[-] ReplicantBatty@lemmy.one 5 points 11 months ago

I'm in about the same boat, friend. 2020-2022 were pretty hard, but this year has honestly been one of the most brutal of my life, here's to 2024 being the turnaround we all need!

[-] Gray@lemmy.ca 12 points 11 months ago

2023 has been the hardest and worst year of my life, followed by 2022. 2020 and 2021 were some of my best years ever. It's hard to handle that whiplash and I really regret not seeing the hard times ahead back then with the inevitable economic crisis on the horizon.

Hindsight is an amazing thing, tough to equate one time to another in your life. things are transient, and all add up to the experience of now. Can't all be good but it won't all be bad. Every one of those experiences make you you, and I think that's important.

[-] son_named_bort@lemmy.world 10 points 11 months ago

Feels a lot different than 2020 to me. Mostly because I don't have to follow the arrows in the grocery store anymore.

[-] therealjcdenton@lemmy.zip 7 points 11 months ago

Bro it's 2013 what're you talking about

[-] Lifter@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 11 months ago

I did an ugly laugh. FFFFFFFF kind of deal.
