Holy hell this man is never going to live this one down

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 4 points 7 hours ago

Well, there aren't. She is below the camera angle.

[–] ngwoo@lemmy.world 16 points 10 hours ago

I miss when the president's sex scandals involved two adults

[–] Ziglin@lemmy.world 9 points 10 hours ago

I've decided that the wholesome interpretation that absolutely everyone would have been fine with is that he is pregnant.

Bill Clinton and John Cena

[–] Suburbanl3g3nd 8 points 1 day ago

Most portraits have two people in them. The subject and the photographer. Duh!

Real ones know there are three people in this picture

Can we not make joke about Monica? She got horribly treated by the public while he is the only one who should have been punished.

She is fighting bullying and she is pretty cool for that.

[–] GreenShimada@lemmy.world 4 points 10 hours ago

Agreed. Poor woman basically had to flee to the UK and go into hiding. She's been surprisingly resilient, all things considered.

[–] Canconda@lemmy.ca 41 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Neither of them should have been punished? The joke is that America lost its goddamnmotherfucking mind over this. America is the joke.

[–] tmyakal@infosec.pub 65 points 2 days ago (14 children)

Neither of them should've been punished? He was her boss, and decades older than her. He should've kept his pants zipped up.

DNC types get super cagey when you admit that Bill Clinton is a serial adulterer who was in an extreme power imbalance relationship with a woman in her 20's.

I'm glad the party is willingly offering him up as a sacrifice to the republicans to get keep the Epstein probe going. Every time the GOP tries a burying tactic, they truss Bill up like a suckling pig, and I'm fine with that. Dude is and was a creep.

Remember Gary Hart? He had to drop out of politics because of a rumor of an affair.

Meanwhile... Margaret Trudeau is doing blow with the Rolling Stones at Studio 52.

Yeah, it took me a second to realize this was another juvenile joke at her expense to make fun of Bill Clinton who has committed a whole series of much worse offenses you can take aim at without involving a woman who already got the sharp end of the media stick for far too long.

[–] ArmchairAce1944@discuss.online 12 points 1 day ago (4 children)

Monica got the worst part of it all.

Fun fact, Tom Green had Monica Lewinsky on his show back in 2000. Tom Green was one of the few comedians who doesn't make fun of Monica Lewinsky. The whole episode is a Tom Green certified adventure involving Monica Lewinsky; she goes along with all the wacky hi-jinks from trolling the media to having light saber battle in Tim Hortons.

You know, for all of his other just horrible antics, he wasn't a bad guy. Just a bit too Andy Kaufman.

What he do? All I know is Em told me he humped a dead moose.

[–] ArmchairAce1944@discuss.online 32 points 1 day ago (4 children)

You know what is incredibly miserable? When Clinton became president he was the first baby boomer president. And since then, save for Obama, all presidents were born roughly around the same time.

Bill Clinton is almost the same age as Trump. Both were born in 1946. They were born months apart.

[–] KingPorkChop@lemmy.ca 19 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I hope Trump is the last Boomer President.

It's like the boomers last gasp to really fuck EVERYTHING up once and for all.

[–] DarrinBrunner@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The youngest Boomer is 61. There are plenty of 61-year-olds I'd vote for, and older. For instance, I'd still vote for Bernie--just get him in office, it doesn't matter how long he lives. Conversely, there are plenty of under-40-year-olds I would not vote for. The problem has nothing to do with age. There are a lot of 20-something MAGAs.

[–] ArmchairAce1944@discuss.online 1 points 16 hours ago

Bernie is absolutely still viable. JD Vance, however, is millennial and I wouldn't want him polishing my shoes.

If only the media would cover epstein the way they covered this...

[–] Canconda@lemmy.ca 23 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

For all we know Murdoch, Bloomberg, etc are on the list. Maybe that's the angle we should be coming from here.

[–] ininewcrow@lemmy.ca 26 points 2 days ago (2 children)

When America had a president with a brain and had consensual extramarital sex with someone.

Instead of a brain dead orange bean bag for a leader who committed multiple sex offenses and is linked to offenses of rape and pedophilia.

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 18 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Uh...Bill had a lot of frequent flier miles to and from Epstein Island.

I mean, with that power imbalance I certainly wouldn't call that affair consensual.

Such a silly scandal. Let people enjoy sex. Sure he was technically her boss but it was fully consensual and neither side regrets it.

Compare to some recent American presidents....

[–] hOrni@lemmy.world 31 points 2 days ago (3 children)

Him being her boss is the scandal part. It's about power imbalance. There is no such thing as "consent" in this situation.

[–] testfactor@lemmy.world 24 points 2 days ago (5 children)

Combine that with the fact that someone commiting adultery should be disqualifying for them becoming president.

Look, I get that all the social norms have been completely ground to dust, but character does in fact matter. We should want a good person who refuses to cheat on their wife as a leader.

Reducing this to just a fun fling because you like the guy is the same thing the hypocrites who support Trump and all of his scandals do.

If he's willing to betray his wife for a quicky from an intern, why would I trust him with anything else? For the person who's leading the entire nation the bar should be higher.

Also not to mention that he was 49 and she was 22. If this was anyone less "likeable" than Bill we'd all be calling him an absolute creep. He was pushing 50, and she could barely drink. And he was her boss.

Yeah. The whole reason the Amanda Knox series happened is because Monika Lewinsky has been starting this documentary series where she tries to help victims in situations where publicity ruined their image and give them a chance to tell their story.

What a fantastic way to turn an image around.

SA* funny. I don't care that she fell in love with him. The power dynamic is as strong as it possibly can be outside of parenthood.

Lewinsky went through so much sustained bullying and harassment by the entire world in her twenties, it's incredible she's still alive honestly. And now she's an activist. Can't respect her more.
