ISRAEL’S SUPREME COURT has ruled that the government has failed to provide Palestinian security prisoners with adequate food for basic subsistence, and ordered authorities to improve their nutrition.

The decision was a rare case in which the country’s highest court ruled against the government’s conduct in Gaza in recent years.

Since October 2023, Israel has seized thousands of people in Gaza that it suspects of links to Hamas. Thousands have also been released without charge, often after months of detention.

Rights groups have documented widespread abuse in prisons and detention facilities, including insufficient food and health care, as well as poor sanitary conditions and beatings.

Israel also routinely detains children and prosecutes them in military courts, a practice long-condemned by human rights organisations and the United Nations. The most common charge is for throwing stones, which can carry a 20-year sentence.

The general Israeli populace needs to come to terms with the fact that their government is now committing a very specific war crime that makes their prisons for Palestinians look like Nazi concentration camps.

There is no positive way to spin this. Starving prisoners is literally what the Nazis did.

They have come to terms with it.

Israelis fully support it.

For Palestine's sake, we really have to hope that it's not all - or even a majority - of Israelis. I've seen the footage of protests there, and heard interviews with Israelis who reject genocide. They give me some hope that the entire country hasn't lost its mind.

On the bright side, the non-Jewish Israelis don't support ethnic cleansing. Though they are commonly known as Palestinians.

Too late. Now israel is going to do the final solution. Those action would have meant something pre 7 of october

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

Too. Fucking. Late. As many feel about America after electing Trump again, that's how I feel about Israel.

I'm middle-aged. I bought the propaganda all these years. I am done. If the Arabs want to steam roll the entire region? Fucking go for it.

What's killing me is how Jews have trashed their international goodwill. Now it's in-your-face obvious that AIPIC is running our governments. Israel is committing genocide and the vast majority of the population seems all-in. You can't speak ill of the country or it's people or you are excoriated. Hell, I might get banned for this post! The "Jews run the world" people must be having a fucking heyday.

Any Israeli's here? What's the view from the inside? Do you not see how your world is eventually going to implode? And again, the antisemitic nuts have only gained power over all this. Fuck me, you're already geographically isolated. How do you think this plays out?!

[–] Lasherz12@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago

Jews have not trashed their international goodwill, zionists have. Many Jews show condemnation of the genocide in Gaza and no reservations about calling it that. See: Jewish Voices for Peace. Equating the two is the problem, but it's not up to the Jews to say, "Not on our name" as much as it is for everyone else to say, "Zionists sure do sound like and act like Nazis." Jews shouldn't even have to voice their disdain for the false association because it's an antisemitic idea created and spread by Zionists and Christian Fascists.

It would be more accurate if you remove the word now for this

their government is now committing a very specific war crime that makes their prisons for Palestinians look like Nazi concentration camps

[–] Tower@lemmy.zip 31 points 1 week ago

"Israel's Supreme Court determined antisemitic."

[–] cyborganism@piefed.ca 28 points 1 week ago

So the Supreme Court of Israel is led by Hamas then.

Didn’t mention anything about the ongoing genocide though, hmm. That’s kosher.

[–] FishFace@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yeah and they also didn't mention anything about any of the other thousands of court cases that weren't this one, because that's not how court judgements work.

[–] BanMe@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

They've ruled on other cases relating to the "occupation"

[–] FishFace@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

Per the article:

The decision was a rare case in which the country’s highest court ruled against the government’s conduct in Gaza in recent years.
