Oh, but not xitter or Truth social?

[–] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 31 points 2 days ago

No shit right?

Pretty fucking notably missing, eh? They are specifically targeting companies associated with younger (more likely to be left-leaning) people.

So they want to ban porn, tighten restrictions on online communities, reduce access to medical care (meaning fewer opportunities to detect mental health struggles early and maybe start working on coping skills or pharmaceutical interventions), cut down programs that provide food for the hungry, and wreck the economy to push more people out of their jobs. Unless you can fire them for being too black, too woman or too gay first, that is.

The difference between burning and explosion is pressure.

Sounds like the Republican agenda that's been around for decades to me.

They just haven't been this successful at it in a while. Forgot to mention the part about kicking popular entertainers off the air for hurting the feelings of the Republican people so that's another relief valve being closed off.

"We need to know how dangerous these skibidi people are, how safe our toilets are from them, and if they are vulnerable to labubu attacks!"

Swifties are to be designated a terrorist organization.

Great opportunity for all of them to highlight the MAGA infestation that's breeding far right terrorists on their platforms. Oh, those weren't the radicals they were looking for? Weird those seem to be the only ones there, better luck next time.

Yeah this is a weird selection of companies. What about Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, even 4chan?

At the very least the social media sites that use algorithmic recommendations heavily. The recent shooting in Colorado got me thinking about how social media algorithms that repeatedly pushes content thats found to engage can easily cause people to fall into a spiral of radicalization. Even just the slightest interest in something, or even shock, can trigger their algorithms to get to work recommending similar stuff. News sites mentioned the kid in Colorado that shot up the school had social media accounts full of shit that glorified school shootings. How'd that start? Maybe something popped up that made a joke about school shootings and he thought it was funny cause its "edgy" or something? And then it remembers that, and pushes another similar post, and another, and on and on until this kid's feed is supposedly full of this kind of content. I don't know if that happened but it seems likely.

But nah, its valve that they're going after. Cause I guess its always the video games that are to blame, right?

And discord? That's just a fancy chat board. What's next, should we question IRC? Email?

What about Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, even 4chan?

You know why. Because the CEOs of the first three bent the knee to the facists already, and the last one is a breeding ground for MAGA.

This is just the next round of CEOs to be intimidated into submission. Some of them won't need intimidation of course, spez will be happy.

I expect another reddit exodus when Huffman caves and starts cracking down on dissent on reddit.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago

Oh, so NOW they are concerned about "radicalization"?

I guess it doesn't count as radicalization when their Orange Jesus and pals organized an insurrection in plain sight back in late 2020 and early 2021?

[–] Nightlight17776@lemmy.ca 10 points 2 days ago

Oh they must mean stuff like the Collective Shout situation. Their going to fix it 😋 /s definitely not

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Valve

They're gonna end up having Steam Forum transcripts they are gonna show and ask about and that's gonna be wild.

"Let the Congressional record reflect that PeePeeBoi42069 responded, 'no u'..."

Lowkey want to watch the event streamed live just in case this happens.

Will reddit testify about the amount of pro genocide users there?
