Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

I do not like that man, Ted Cruz.

I do not like his awful views.

I do not like his stupid hair.

I do like him here or there.

I hate that man with all my might.

But, damn, this time the shit bag's right.

I'll say it again: I HATE AGREEING WITH THESE SHITHEADS WHEN THEY MAKE GOOD POINTS.

[–] Hideakikarate@sh.itjust.works 37 points 3 days ago (1 children)

It's his turn to sound sensible. MTG was recently.

Pretty sure it's just the ones on Russia's payroll being given new marching orders to sow disorder in the party. These people stand for literally nothing.

You aren't agreeing with them, they're agreeing with you.

We've been calling tye administration out on stuff like this, now some right wing figures are sometimes agreeing with us

Reminder that in March 2016 Trump insulted Ted Cruz's wife, and by October Cruz was answering phones for the Trump campaign because he's a spineless piece of shit who would stick his head all the way up the FCC chairman's asshole tomorrow if Trump so much as frowned at him.

“Look, I like Brendan Carr. He’s a good guy, he’s the chairman of the FCC. I work closely with him, but what he said there is dangerous as hell,”

I didn't have "Ted Cruz is the adult in the room" on my bingo card

If Carr was going after Cruz's critics there's no way he'd have made this statement

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

Ted's critics? You mean the other 99 members of the senate?

This is how far the the Regime has sunk.

It's mother fucking Cancun Cruz, and I approve of his message.

Anybody ever get the impression that a whole bunch of Republicans would almost be halfway pseudo-decent (or at least not complete monsters) if they would just quit being cowardly authoritarian followers supporting in lockstep every evil impulse of the worst of them?

To me, that fucking cowardice is almost more contemptible than the evil leadership itself.

He would know. Wasn't his dad hired by the mafia to be on that grassy knoll?

He wouldn't know. He was busy in the San Francisco Bay Area in 1963 readying his cryptograms for 5 years to send to the police after he killed 4 innocent young people.

[–] Skyrmir@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

It took Cruz this long to realize Trumps entire personality and mode of operation is wanna be mafia boss. Extortion is the only negotiating Trump is capable of.

It'd kinda be fun if one day the son of Kennedy's assassin gets the job of changing Trump's diapers.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago

Careful, Teddy. Taco might deem you to be "antifa" and have you murdered by the state.

[–] WhatAmLemmy@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago

Performative. Ted Cruz is almost as authoritarian as he is a gutless, valueless charlatan.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

I wonder which of his donors got in his business about it.

[–] Kalon@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago

But what are you going to DO about it?

[–] Wisens@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 3 days ago

Then do something about it!

He’ll do the thing he’s always done: say something right every now and then, but ultimately do nothing about it.

This goes for most Democrats as well.

Shit’s fucked.
