Flippant Anarchism. A lighter take on social criticism with the aim of agitation.

Post humorous takes on capitalism and the states which prop it up. Memes, shitposting, screenshots of humorous good takes, discussions making fun of some reactionary online, it all works.

This community is anarchist-flavored. Reactionary takes won't be tolerated.

Don't take yourselves too seriously. Serious posts go to !anarchism@lemmy.dbzer0.com

ICE. The same people 5 years ago cried and screamed that they couldn’t wear masks while working, they couldn't breathe, now refuse to be seen without masks while running after parents and children.

Honestly I’d really recommend anonymizing people before posting this type of video. The de-arrest may have been nonviolent but it was still probably illegal in the eyes of the government. Having their faces in this video could put people at risk of arrest.

Damn… shit just sad… can't imagine how much worse it'd be seeing it first hand, or worst, experiencing it yourself, first person. Fuck ICE.

I was wondering when they'd start fighting ICE, as the title suggests. Surprised ICE just left. Like, what?! That was some "swiper, no swiping" type shit. Though I'm glad they left, honestly. Again, fuck ICE. That shit just disheartening.

Wishing Latin Americans, and others in situations alike, all the best. Y'all don't deserve this shite.

[–] 0x0@lemmy.zip 8 points 6 days ago

I suspect there's more fighting ice than the corporate media wants you to know.

[–] bilouba@jlai.lu 13 points 6 days ago (3 children)

American have a second amendment and yet refuse to use it... I don't get it...

[–] Starb3an@lemmy.world 8 points 6 days ago (3 children)

It doesn't compare to the arsenal even rural town police forces have.

[–] Knoxvomica@lemmy.ca 12 points 6 days ago

Doesn't matter what they have, unless they want to mow down a whole town, city, state, in a civil war you're fighting your entire populace and everything economy wise will grind to a halt.

Mhmm.

You see those little piggies with their backs turned to a crowd?

Figure it out.

[–] RenLinwood@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 6 days ago (1 children)

A better arsenal has never helped in defeating a dedicated insurgency, not once in history. Our government can't afford to unrestrainedly slaughter their citizens, not only would it provoke greater resistance but even if they succeeded it would be economic and political suicide.

[–] prettybunnys@sh.itjust.works 3 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Your argument necessitates anyone who wants to disagree prove a negative, but the insurgencies quickly quelled are often not heard of.

[–] 0x0@lemmy.zip 2 points 6 days ago

Probably most 2Aers are on the right. What's slightly surprising is that the armed forces swore to defend their constitution and do nothing.

[–] curiousaur@reddthat.com 6 points 6 days ago

Why were they allowed to leave?

[–] kadaverin0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 6 days ago

This is the response we need to these fuckers. Your BDUs and balaclavas don't mean shit when the neighborhood turns up to beat your ass.

[–] peoplebeproblems@midwest.social 99 points 1 week ago

See???? SEEE!

THEY ARE COWARDS! THERE ARE MORE OF US THAN THERE ARE OF THEM!

NO ONE DIED! BECAUSE THE NUMBERS DONT LIE! INTERFERE! GET IN THE WAY! MAKE NOISE! DRAW ATTENTION!

THIS IS WHAT FASCISM IS AFRAID OF! PEOPLE! ITS JUST AFRAID OF PEOPLE!

[–] anarchiddy@lemmy.dbzer0.com 75 points 1 week ago (3 children)

People might be upset that nobody threw any haymakers but its honestly far smarter to do what they did. Physically assaulting those nazis would have gotten a gun drawn (the uniformed one literally reached for his in the first 2 minutes but thought better of it).

Successfully interfering with the arrest without getting shot or arrested yourself is possibly the best you can expect from these interactions.

[–] Doc_Crankenstein@slrpnk.net 15 points 6 days ago

The results are always what matters. Escalate as needed but never be afraid to escalate. If they start throwing down, respond appropriately. If they pull a weapon, be ready to pull one in turn but never be the first to fire.

The goal isn't to cause harm but to save someone from the hands of oppression. Starting fires helps bring the building down but it doesn't do much to get the people out before that happens.

Get those who need the help away then stand your ground until the fascists back off so they can't give chase. just know to be ready and prepared for retaliation as you have now bucked the reigns of authority.

[–] 0x0@lemmy.zip 7 points 1 week ago

They were too busy trying to pin down the guy, those guns could've... fallen off... then it'd be them vs a mob.

[–] HasturInYellow@lemmy.world 21 points 1 week ago (1 children)

This is true in this case, but I don't know that I agree it is always the case. I have seen some videos where the ice agents deserve nothing less than a gunshot to the dome in that exact moment.

At some point soon, someone will come to that same conclusion and will be in a position to act on it.

[–] anarchiddy@lemmy.dbzer0.com 13 points 1 week ago

Don't get me wrong, that'd be awesome too. But when it's two against 50 like that, it's better to force them to retreat than to escalate when you don't need to.

[–] Dionysus@leminal.space 69 points 1 week ago

Fuck yeah. Proud of you Chicago!

[–] ElJefe@lemmy.ca 43 points 1 week ago

🖕FUCK ICE🖕

[–] MehBlah@lemmy.world 41 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I've always liked Chicago. Never really felt nervous up there.

[–] ozymandias@lemmy.dbzer0.com 17 points 1 week ago (1 children)

the city of brotherly love

[–] MehBlah@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I'm sure there are places where I wouldn't be treated well but for the most part if you are not a asshole and don't mind getting honked at when you drive around Chicago is a great place to visit.

[–] ozymandias@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 6 days ago

i like it there

[–] Olgratin_Magmatoe@slrpnk.net 30 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Wanted to see the crowd do more. But ij the end I'm glad they did something, even if it wasn't very much.

The loose walkie talkie and zip ties seemed like an easy snatch. And they definitely were too distracted to deal with a punctured tire.

[–] peoplebeproblems@midwest.social 32 points 1 week ago

No, they did. They did the most powerful thing we can do.

They came together.

That's survival of the fittest mother fuckers. That's how humans survived for so long. Not the strongest or wealthiest human. The society.

[–] altkey@lemmy.dbzer0.com 20 points 1 week ago

It tears me apart to see this dude in distress as that pig tries to corner them, handcuf them. I applaud to the temper of a white shirt guy who kept wrapping around the victim without any direct confrontation. I don't feel I could've made it in both scenarios.

[–] Sprocketfree@sh.itjust.works 19 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Lol people need to just start driving off in their cars and leave them stranded.

[–] Kowowow@lemmy.ca 1 points 3 days ago

Small rock or bb pushing on the valve stem when the little cap is twisted on or a biker valve stem removal tool loosening it off would be less noticed at first

[–] Wilco@lemmy.zip 14 points 1 week ago

So proud of this. I want to be involved in resisting, but I doubt I could be as calm and collect.

[–] blimthepixie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 1 week ago (4 children)

Chicago stood around doing nothing except shouting for 4 minutes.

It's good they were milling around giving ICE shit but that was no fight.

Guess I just wanted to see those ICE cunt get chinned

[–] Dionysus@leminal.space 38 points 1 week ago (2 children)

So... Two points here.

1 Fuck yes, I wanted to see someone rip the fucking socks off those couch fuckers and have the neighborhood come out with bats. Those fucking twats deserved nothing less.

2 The moment you do that, they pull their guns. So unless you're ballsy enough to be the first martyr, chinning one will end in guns out and it's you or them.

So the only way to deal with them now is what you saw.

[–] DrFistington@lemmy.world 25 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (2 children)

Honestly with just those 2 nozzles, I wouldn't worry much. Also I'm white as shit, so I could show up with a mask in my armor carrier and be like "hey do you guys need help?" Then just mace the shit out of them and be like "whoops, my bad" then disappear.

[–] HasturInYellow@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago

White privilege for good

[–] lurch@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 week ago

It worked in Troy

The one guy who was actually identifying himself as ICE did go to grab his gun at one time, but thought better of it.

[–] DrFistington@lemmy.world 19 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

That's the best part though... They didn't even have to do anything. Just yelling at them while they struggled like oiled up pigs to subdue one fat guy, who obviously posed no threat, was enough for them to almost have a heart attack and give up

Start blocking in their cars, immobilize them, then toss smoke grenades and swarm them, beat and strip them, then have a second group ready to chase them on foot.

At least half of ICE would probably have a heart attack if they had to do any significant cardio. And if they die because they're out of shape, that's entirely their fault, and the agencies fault for hiring them.

[–] 0x0@lemmy.zip 16 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Yeah i was expecting more... intervening reactions than whipping out cellphones, but i guess the power of numbers did help in the end.

[–] lurch@sh.itjust.works 21 points 1 week ago

kicking the zipties away and filming probably helped most

[–] dzsimbo@lemmy.dbzer0.com 18 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Yeah, but these were a group of random civilians, not frothing anarchists.

Many people are fretting the Gestapo (and the communist counterpart), but their black cars came in the night and were pretty efficient.

This video just goes to show that the powers that be have not totally eroded the fabric of society in the US (where they are doing ~~there~~ their best to 'individualize'). Everyone was being smart as to not touch the henchman, but people were still risking their wellbeing in the face of a militia.

Great video, thanks for sharing. People are good.

Still way more action than russians protesting about being sent to war.
