Just because I'm gay doesn't mean I use Linux...no wait, Just because I use Linux doesn't make me...well I am gay but...dammit!

[-] Dasnap@lemmy.world 56 points 9 months ago

I'm not gay but I certainly talk about femboys a lot more than I used to.

[-] rtxn@lemmy.world 33 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

The Venn diagram showing the users of 196 and Linux is more or less a circle.

Nothing against this, it takes all sorts and stuff you know.

But in my day Linux users were either smug greybeards or nerds with glasses thick like the undersides of bottles.

But you do you, internet! Ä

[-] naevaTheRat@lemmy.dbzer0.com 26 points 9 months ago

Yeah so there are still young nerds, they're just all trans women now.

[-] taladar@sh.itjust.works 44 points 9 months ago

Isn't trans a sort of open source tinkering with the biological systems you own?

[-] QuazarOmega@lemy.lol 37 points 9 months ago

Runtime patching if you will

[-] Franconian_Nomad@feddit.de 20 points 9 months ago

That’s actually fitting, because linux is all about choice, freedom and individuality. I like it.

[-] TimeSquirrel@kbin.social 16 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

The people who are into this were always there amongst the nerds. They just never spoke up out of fear and social ostracism.

Furrys are not a new "Internet" thing, the fandom has been active since like, the 70s when it branched off other fantasy fandoms. It was all started by a small group of people going to scifi cons.

Why do so many people feel bothered about this? It's not like the comunity is associated with a political party or something due to this. Also it's a meme comunity and this is a meme, what did you expect?

[-] savvywolf@pawb.social 34 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

Eh. Furry is one of the few punching bags that people feel it's safe to attack nowadays. I've seen some people say that that attitude just a modern expression of homophobia.

[-] TimeSquirrel@kbin.social 31 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

I feel if you're still making fun of furries at this point and not just ignoring them and moving on with your life, you need to pull yo ass out of 2005 and get new jokes. That Vanity Fair article was like almost 20-fucking years ago.

Edit: I take that back after looking it up, it was OVER 20 fucking years ago.

Why do so many people feel bothered about this?

I compare the reaction to that Seinfeld episode where George gets a massage from a male therapist and then spends the rest of the ep flipping out cuz he got a mild chub from it. People who freak out don't like that it made them horny-adjacent

I'm a Linux user and trans but I'm not a furry.

[-] Tartas1995@discuss.tchncs.de 42 points 9 months ago

I am only a Linux user. I don't feel trans, nor am I a furry. Could you become a furry for me to average me out? Thanks!

[-] DmMacniel@feddit.de 51 points 9 months ago

Gods damnit ... I'm a furry now. Thanks Obama.

[-] Tartas1995@discuss.tchncs.de 22 points 9 months ago

That's how it all starts. First, you just find anthropomorphic characters "hot". Next, you realize you were gay all along. Everything afterwards happens in a flash. Before you know it, you've picked a side in the systemd wars, you swear by ZFS, have memorized ESC :q! by heart and changed your 'sona into a FOSSa

Famously Gay Creature:

Oh hey, you like Linux?

Some people here:

Stay back foul incubus! My faith in my heterosexuality shall protect me from your wily charms! Stand down, beast, for I invoke the word of cringe!

I like using Linux as much as I like using subs

[-] Tartas1995@discuss.tchncs.de 15 points 9 months ago

Now I would like to know how many Linux users are Doms and how many are subs. I mean a lot of Linux user like the control over the system.

I like Linux. I am not gay, not trans, not furry, and I absolutely hate the shit out of anime/manga/anything in that shit art style. I have a wife and kids.

Idk how to fit in; I'm immune to linux side effects somehow.

[-] EuroNutellaMan@lemmy.world 22 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

Maybe your wife likes feminine men and you just never realized you were one who knows. Maybe it's just a meme. Maybe we should all sudo rm -fr /* --no-preserve-root to remove all traces of French from our root

Sounds like serious insecurity. A lot of these memes are more along the lines of queer folk finding an accepting community and having fun posting things that would normally result in cyber bullying.

Also the boykisser thing has always just been a joke. Don’t take it as an insult or something.

[-] Asudox@lemmy.world 27 points 9 months ago

Furry linux users thinking people will also like furry if they put linux in it.

[-] Agent641@lemmy.world 20 points 9 months ago

The venn diagram of linux admins and furries is troublingly circular
