Is it old for an African fruit bat ?
They can live up to 30 years, but 18 is still considered geriatric. So Ella is an old lady.
I want to bring her soup and do puzzles with her.
That’s adorable!
Here is Ella with her best friend Starlie - they are inseparable even though they are different species (Starlie is an Indian flying fox).
Aww!! Besties!! 💖
Bats look like cute little dogs with wings.
I feel like they can echolocate me through the screen
I thought this was some kind of fungal induced deformity at first, but no.. it's a Griffin's Leaf Nosed Bat and that's how they're supposed to look! https://www.nationalgeographic.com/animals/article/120223-new-bat-species-vietnam-animals-science
Yup! I direct linked to the image because the article is paywalled.
Wow that second one is fascinating!
He just sneezed too hard ..cut him some slack.
I bet I would still attempt to pet it. My stupid heart feels like even "uggo" animals deserve all the love too.
Yikes! Well. Cuteness of a different sort.
Ai?
They totally do, that’s why we call them sky puppies!
Winged lemurs from ATLA.
Honduran white bats are my fave. Just tiny floofs.
🦇
How'd she do?
She is doing great!
The longest fingies I've ever seen lol
Bats
Bats are cool
Bats are the only true flying mammals. There are over 1,400 species of bats, and they can be found on nearly every part of the planet. Not only are they cute, they are also important...
Studying how bats use echolocation has helped scientists develop navigational aids for the blind. Without bats’ pollination, seed dispersal, and pest control we wouldn’t have bananas, avocados, mangoes, agave, or cacao… that’s right, bats bring us tequila and chocolate!
