We have the best citizens in the world because of autocannon.

Now that it seems to do better against Hulks, I feel strange not taking it! It's so versatile, even if it does take up a backpack slot. I'd love a "laser equivalent" in the way the Laser Cannon = MG and Quasar = Recoilless Rifle, but until then I'm happy to sling 20mm of justice and freedom across any battlefield.

Plus, with the ammo pack, it lasts a while. Also, you can refill it once it hits halfway without "wasting" extra ammo.

I've been hooked on the Quasar recently, but might have to pick up the ol' Autocannon again and give it a shot. I just hate needing to reload when facing down Chargers.

Hooked on Quasar worked for me!

If anyone gets this reference, welcome to the old people table

Quasar on one team member anf and autocannon on another is great on bot missions because it's so easy to shoot down bot drops with the quasar. Then the autocannon user can take down the factories from range.

Juggling two Quasar Cannons on the extract and shooting down two bot drops feels amazing. I've only managed to do it once, since you have to precharge each shot and predict when and where the drops are going to show up.

I didn't realise it did the shrieker nests. That's exciting.

[-] lobut@lemmy.ca 17 points 7 months ago

It takes quite a few, but it's far better than going closer.

giggles in quasar

At first I thought this was a battletech post and I was about to leave a comment on the impracticality of autocanons compared to other weapon families, especially on 'mechs.

[-] MrBusiness@lemmy.zip 2 points 7 months ago

But the autocannon in Battletech was so satisfying, getting that kerplonk and crippling that mech piece was zen.

[-] Leate_Wonceslace@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 7 months ago

That's fair, but if we're talking about the VGs, I honestly like the pulse lasers' wubwubwub from Mechwarrior 5 a lot better than the Autocanons too.

It's good but I'm pretty sure it does 'I damage to Bile Titans and Shrieker nests.

[-] Nommer@sh.itjust.works 8 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago)

9-12 rounds for a shrieker nest. Bile titans like 20+ to their bile sacks. Not worth on bile titans but I'll absolutely snipe shrieker nests from across the map as soon as I see one.

[-] AlexisFR@jlai.lu 2 points 7 months ago

Oh, I wasn't aware it was still doing damage to the Bile Titans once the sacks were gone.

[-] Zacryon@feddit.de 9 points 7 months ago

Shhh! Not so loud! Or do you want the same thing that happened to the railgun happen to the autocannon?

[-] MrBusiness@lemmy.zip 4 points 7 months ago

Is that what happened? I thought I just got trolled. Got the railgun cause people said it makes chargers ez, but it would just plink off 85% of it's body. Even when hits landed it tanked those shots.

[-] Zacryon@feddit.de 3 points 7 months ago

Yes. Got nerfed hard, since then I barely see people use it.

[-] JimboDHimbo@lemmy.ca 7 points 7 months ago

If one of y'all tell me I can autocannon a dropship in two hits, I'll put my quasar down until we need to murder bots again.

[-] BarbecueCowboy@kbin.social 2 points 7 months ago

The engines are the weak point, not sure about two hits, but you can definitely down a dropship with an autocannon.

[-] Sanctus@lemmy.world 6 points 7 months ago

Don't forget ricocheting shots will fuck up what they hit (unless it's armor!)

[-] snugglesthefalse@sh.itjust.works 6 points 7 months ago

20mm is my favourite calibre

[-] ours@lemmy.world 2 points 7 months ago

20mm Is best mm.

It's often said about 10mm so doubly so for 20.

[-] TheHotze@lemmy.world 4 points 7 months ago

Enemies grouping up? Autocannon.

[-] n3m37h@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 7 months ago

Too much friendly fire? You guessed it!
