Hey. I'll take it on, at least temporarily. I have experience as a mod for a mid-sized city community on Reddit, and am working on building the equivalent community here.
The owner was banned from lemmy.world?
Yes. The original owner joined, registered a few communities and then never returned. So we purged the inactive communities but those that are active are now available to other people who wish to moderate these communities.
Fuck, it's so nice to have admins who actually do shit proactively.
I wonder what they did. The rules are basically "don't be a bigoted jerk, a troll, or a spammer." Those aren't difficult rules to live by (though some people do have trouble in that area anyway).
Someone created the community, but then went inactive. Don't think they "did anything" in that regard
I can also help out. I don't have much moderation experience but I can check new posts a few times a day and check reported posts. I definitely won't be able to carry a large community but can help out at least until we find permanent mods.
Not The Onion
Welcome
We're not The Onion! Not affiliated with them in any way! Not operated by them in any way! All the news here is real!
The Rules
Posts must be:
- Links to news stories from...
- ...credible sources, with...
- ...their original headlines, that...
- ...would make people who see the headline think, “That has got to be a story from The Onion, America’s Finest News Source.”
Comments must abide by the server rules for Lemmy.world and generally abstain from trollish, bigoted, or otherwise disruptive behavior that makes this community less fun for everyone.
And that’s basically it!
