What is that deep green stuff? Or is that just a filter making it look alien green 👾

They dye the relish in Chicago. Don't know why but it's a part of a real Chicago hot dog

you should check out what the british do to peas 🤮 it's not far off

That is so weird. Looks like blue dye! Definitely way less appealing than the natural colour of pickles that I’m used to with relish.

[-] dalekcaan@lemm.ee 2 points 5 months ago

According to Wikipedia, it is blue dye. I guess it mixes with the green of the relish to make...that.

[-] polygon6121@lemmy.world 2 points 5 months ago

Oh that's interesting. So I guess it is for brand recognition or something.

I have never seen a Chicago style hot dog in person but that's apparently just relish but with blue food coloring added

A proper fucking dog dragged through the garden, love to see it

Heeey. Good play on the song. 😁

[-] Signtist@lemm.ee 4 points 5 months ago

Did you get the chocolate cake shake with it?

[-] Contentedness@lemmy.nz 4 points 5 months ago

Curious what that'd set you back?

To get something like that where I live here in Melbourne id say you'd need to go to a specialty hot dog spot and would be lucky to pay less than AU$18 (US$12)

Looks good tho id probably pay it.

They normally are about $5 each; pair w fries is $8-10. These were made at home

[-] Contentedness@lemmy.nz 2 points 5 months ago

Well they look great!

Rabbits don’t like steam!!!

[-] HootinNHollerin@slrpnk.net 4 points 5 months ago

I’ve always wondered what the peppers are called that are used in Chicago dogs

[-] EvilBit@lemmy.world 9 points 5 months ago

Sport peppers. 🤷‍♂️

[-] HootinNHollerin@slrpnk.net 3 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago)

Just looked it up, correct. I assumed you were joking

[-] EvilBit@lemmy.world 2 points 5 months ago

Yeah I had to look it up when I first saw it too. I thought it was a typo or something.
