I am in my "50 years old and working a shitty remote job as an expat because I just don't give a fuck anymore" phase. I answer emails from clients regarding financial matters. Very boring stuff. There's no community here for it, and thank Jeebus for that. Honestly, AI could do my job (and it often does, but don't tell my boss).

Bruce Campbell as Ash Williams in the 'Evil Dead' movies.

I fucking dare you to try to remake that with another actor.

Every character in that season was perfect. Even the very minor roles played by unknowns were all knocked right out of the park. The stars really aligned for that first season, and I am very much okay with that being a rare thing.

If you traveled back in time and told J. Edgar Hoover that in the future, the American public voluntarily wire-tapped themselves, he would cream his frilly pink panties.

I wasn't being literal about there being nothing left unknown in the whole universe. Just that we've (at least in the west) culturally outgrown stuff like ghost stories and other supernatural folklore, and that the X-Files type of conspiracy theory entertainment took its place, and it's hard to enjoy now because that space has been taken over by a bunch of paranoid lunatics.

Also farming. They spent a LOT of time herding cattle and planting veggies.

Same. I have always loved it as a fictional genre, and as a fun sort of "what if" form of escapism for life in general. We've pretty much taken all the mystery out of the world, so that kind of stuff filled that void for me for a long time. But then it turned into a pipeline to recruit people into right-wing paranoia, and now I can't really enjoy it anymore.

Right? It's really weird...

Stuff like this might actually be what unravels the Trump administration. The military industrial complex is far more powerful than any of the people Orange Julius has surrounded himself with, and they will not like taking losses to appease his ego.

This is called "the cost of doing business" to build a technocratic dictatorship. I promise you, none of these people are losing a wink of sleep over this. So far, they are getting everything they want at a breakneck pace.

I know it doesn't look like much, but I promise you it was amazing.
