Melancholy Kitty (lemmy.world)

This f***n cat lives a blessed life and has no business with that look on her face!

Sounds metal AF.

I mean how many miles a day are most routes? Why order bigger specs if you don't need them? I can't imagine most carriers go more than 20 mi a day. I am curious though, I'm sure someone's crunched the numbers on it.

65' looks ready for anything the playgrounds got.

This was my first thought. Insurers being insurers and dickhead dealerships reacting dick-headlly.

It's a theft thing. Middle managers are concerned about employees purposely making accidents so that they may then eat. It's all about that money honey

Right? Done properly and without profit motivating every decision it could be a good thing. I mean I'm sure someone will find a way to make it creepy and weird, but you never know.

Miss Caligula

I grew up in northern Minnesota. Fuck whatever your saying. You absolutely can pop to the grocery. It's disingenuous AF to say this place is inhospitable without automobiles. The Anishinaabe have managed it. I managed it. Litteral millons do.

What you meant to say is "surviving in a place like Minnesota requires planning and community" I'm MN born and raised. I haven't owned an automobile for 15years. It's very possible.

And seeing how there's ten billion souls on this planet, rapidly fucking it up, it would behoove us to live with less resource expenditures. Any way you stack it up, from leaded gasoline to the sleekest EV, the personal automobile is a gluttonous, selfish act. We can live without them, your very existence is proof. Ride the bus, snow shoe, ski, walk bus, fuck.

I knew a plumber growing up. Dude walked around with a wad of cash that would make a gangster blush. Used to run into him on jobs all the time. By the time I knew him he was one of those elder assholes, would spend 5min saving the day with wizardry and old man strength, and the rest of the day smoking weed and being hilarious. R I P Lionel, you were a good one

Thank you all who reached out, it really was awesome.

Was super easy, even my Nvidia cards driver was basically automated. Haven't played anything yet but I'm sure I'll be fine.

I opened up the command thingy a couple of times just to get some settings how I wanted them, but could have gotten by without it.

The biggest stumbling block for me personally was getting the thumb drive in order, then the hardware to boot from it. First you gotta use a thing called Rufus to format the drive correctly, not sure how or why, but you do.

And then I couldn't get my laptop to load bios no matter what key/s I mashed at restart, but searching " advanced startup options" in settings brought me to a menu to reboot from my (now correctly formatted) USB drive.

The rest drove itself. Still some stuff to figure out with it but it's doable. Very polished and user friendly.Thank you all again so much!

I just fucking can't with windows anymore. I'd preach about it but I imagine you've heard it all. I have minimal computer expertise.

I use my PC mainly for streaming, downloading torrent files who's copyright you don't need to worry about, and light gaming. Usually just messing with New Vegas mods.

If someone knows of a good YouTube channel or guide or something written for andelder millennial caveman I would be grateful.

Edit: after having been recommended mint OS and giving it a quick Google, I got this! I haven't fucked with anything linux scince the early aughts. And holy shit has that come a ways. Guess I remembered back and got a little intimidated. Mint is downloading now. As a small f.u. I booted up edge to do it. Ty you beautiful people!

Sorry to flood y'all with photos of the same cat. I have time on my hands for a bit and have been posting daily. If you guys get sick of it let me know and I'll cool it.

This is Miss Caligula, we call her calie or just kitty for the most part. I found her as a stray kitten a few years ago. She's the most social cat, will go on walks with you and involve herself with most activities. I swear sometimes she understands English.

Great mouser, horrible birder (thank God). I know there's a lot of good reasons to keep cats indoors but she was not having it. We try to keep her collar on when she's outside. Such a good kitty

Most Americans have no clue what socialism means. I almost got shot in a truck stop in Elk City OK because I pointed out roads and the armed forces were socialist institutions.

Edit: I just wanna say I was drawn into a conversation with a crazy person. It's telling that that situation (me being threatened with gun violence) doesn't seem to stretch anyone's imagination.

What I really wanna say is I've spent a lot of time in trump country, and his supporters can be some of the kindest, and in their own way thoughtful people. The kindness and hospitality I've been shown in some of these places has been truly awesome. The tragedy here is they've had their minds poisoned with propaganda that serves to distract from any other problems that may be annoying.

Don't fall into the trap of thinking these are all horrible stupid people. It would only be a disservice both them and yourself.
