My mother is somewhat similar and I ended up cutting ties with her later in life. I hope you keep your boundaries and don't let her erode them. Neglectful and narcissistic parents are very good at appearing like they're really sorry or minimizing their abuse, and it works if you let it cause you enough guilt. I cannot fathom being this evil. They're children. That's what children generally are, innocent. If they aren't, maybe this soulless sadistic lying useless craven freak can tell us what she thinks these children did wrong (hint: be born brown).
There used to be a form of chivalry that kinda got close in the past, but it was still rooted in a lot of hierarchy and patriarchy. That's been eroded away and toxic traits have dominated masculine discussion and practice for a while now. I'm hopeful a sincerely loving and empathetic form of masculinity can become the norm in my lifetime.
