the average Republican voter does not understand

You can just stop there, and be correct about almost any topic.

I had to explain tax brackets to my mother.

She's got a degree to teach math. And I know she actually went to college since I can remember sitting in the back of her classrooms when she couldn't find a babysitter.

She used to do her own taxes and my grandparents taxes.

But, as a teenager, I had to explain why a potential $2 raise doesn't mean she's losing more money in taxes than the raise is giving her.

She also doesn't believe the welfare cliff exists, despite our family being precariously perched atop it when I was in elementary school.

At this point I think she's just heard the same stupid shit repeated over and over, she doesn't even question it anymore.

I plan on reminding every family member, at every opportunity, when they complain about some benefit they've lost, "tough shit, you specifically voted for this"

Historically, it works.

If every country on earth had nukes and delivery methods on par with each other, we would never have to worry about nations being at war again.

Nothing would be left alive on the planet, but we would be at peace.

It's children whining about how life is unfair but instead of actually trying to do something about it now, they'd rather feel smugly superior as they do fuckall and "wait for the revolution" or whatever.

Do I believe positive change is quick or easy? Fuck no. It's hard work and it takes a ton of us working together. I harbor no illusions that my own singular voice will ever matter on a large scale, and I will happily take up my arms to defend the rights of those whose only crime is existing while lgbtq+/poc/whatever, but I'm gonna vote and campaign and everything I can do in the meantime.

Whether we're headed for a cliff as a species or not is irrelevant, I don't feel the need to hit the gas or sit back while mocking the people who are trying to stop the bus.

I officially have no idea what's going on...

Am I out of touch?... No, it's the young who are wrong!

I really want someone to press one of these people on camera.

"Donald Trump has promised at multiple rallies to end the democratic process by eliminating the need to vote, and this is extremely dangerous to our democracy, therefore it is an official act of the office e of the president to order a hit on DJT, Seal teams 3 and 5 are en-route now. Such an act is official, and necessary for the country to survive therefore Joe Biden is completely immune from any prosecution."

I just want to know for sure what the reaction would be. I'm sure pearl clutching indignation (because someone thought of their idea but flipped the victims around)

Sexist piece of shit who liked to step all over anyone he perceived as "beneath" him (everyone) and if you've ever thought to yourself "given the rest of the show, why would THAT be a thing? It feels gross and entire groups of people would feel marginalized by this" while watching it, it was probably a Berman Special. Like Seven's.... "uniform"...

Also from what I understand, racist. Like the ferengi.

Here's how I imagine this will go

People: Hey, that company isn't following the laws

Politician: oh no, I'll look into it

Company exec: yeah we don't want to follow the laws, so we won't.

Politician: well, I asked them nicely but if I actually do anything to punish them, then they won't give me money anymore so my hands are tied.

"You can cut that out, right?"

"We can.... But we won't."
