I would love to see the alternate universe Star Trek V where he got to make exactly what he had in mind, without any interference or budgetary constraints.

When the book was initially announced, I didn't think much of it, but it seems like Visitor really put a lot of work into this thing.

I watched this last night - I have to admit, when I watched the "Unification" short, one of the first things I thought about was Shatner having lost touch with Nimoy prior to Nimoy's death - he recounts (his side of) that story here.

I think it's clear at this point that municipal funding regulations need to be completely renegotiated, but I doubt the political will is there.

Good news - after getting real bad today (okay, that part's not good news), it looks like we've fixed federation with lemmy.world and a number of other instances. Things should be within normal parameters.

More specifically, federation from us to lemmy.world has a delay of about 57 seconds, while federation from lemmy.world to us is about 1.7 hours (this is admittedly not ideal, but also not that unusual).

This was another decent episode. I have to say, though, I don't think this season is "hitting" for me quite as much as past seasons.

Yeah, I have no idea how that stuff will work if instances are running different versions.

Federation is an imperfect thing, but hopefully we'll get this sorted soon enough.

A couple of weeks ago, federation from .world fell behind by about 3 days if you can believe it.

We (and other instances) do tend to have issues with lemmy.world from time to time - I think it's a combination of their sheer size, and some geographical quirks that can slow things down.

Right now, it looks like federation from them to us is fine, but content from us to them is taking about 19 hours to go through.

I can look into this, but there's a high chance that we'll have to just wait for it to settle down.

Does it get any better than Dadmiral Vance?

The provincial government will introduce legislation that eliminates the use of restrictive covenants for grocery stores, which limit the kinds of stores that can open near a particular company's location, Kinew said.

The throne speech — which outlines the government's priorities for the coming legislative session — also says the government will open more than 100 beds at health-care facilities, unveil a new strategy for cutting ER wait times and commission a new statue to replace the Queen Victoria monument that was toppled in front of the Manitoba Legislature.

The one-year freeze on electricity rates, one of the affordability promises in the throne speech, will start in 2025.

Kinew promised a freeze in the 2023 election campaign, and while in office has insisted the utility has the means to service large new industrial customers in spite of warnings from Manitoba Hydro about a looming capacity crunch and the need to generate more power. Hydro has said its infrastructure requires billions of dollars in fixes.
