I don't know, the only thing stopping me from getting 150 billion is the threat of having to pay an 800 million fine on it.

If it weren't for that

I was going to say, it's starting to sound more like the EU is just taking kickbacks in a circuitous legal manner rather than via a shady under the table deal with men and trench coats exchanging packages of unmarked bills.

I mean, in the last 5 months how many times has the EU fined meta or google?

If you really want to make a message that sticks, you ban the danger sites from operating in your collective and then fine them for their past misdeeds.

If you want to be seen as lenient, you then set down a list of objectives that the site must adhere to in order to be reinstated in the collective.

Anything short of that is just lining your pockets. I mean, what is the money being used for?

Remember, the rule is "Embrace, Extend, Extinguish".

Threads is doing this. Kicking them to the curb regardless of the cost is the only solution.

Narcissisism isn't a bad thing as long as it is known and controlled for.

You feel good because you say good things about yourself? Rock on.

Others feel bad because you say good things about yourself? What is their problem?

That is not a normal reaction.

Friends should lift up friends at least in equal amounts to how much they are lifted by said friend.

As long as you are being a good friend to your friends it should not negatively affect them when you say good things about yourself. Of course, it would not hurt if you tempered that by saying good things about them as well.

Lift up all the homies

I don't know what normal people do but people like me don't see ads because they use the appropriate protections from the invasiveness of the internet.

Pihole. Firefox. ublock origin, privacy badger, decentraleyes...

It also helps if you don't participate in systems that attempt to intrusively shove ads down your throat, but you do you.

I kind of disagree with that being not caring about you. It's kind of more like they are helpless to help you, but they still want you to be better because they want you to be happy.

So, a lot of people default to giving useless advice. It is still an expression of care and love and support, just an ineffective one that is insulting and annoying to someone who's currently going through it.

I would much rather have somebody whom I've known for years tell me to try doing things that improve their mental health than to have nobody or for everyone to just look the other way while I am suffering.

That calculation is based on location.

If you check yours, it would be free shipping.

Cumin can add a cinnamonesque flavor to chilis, I wonder if that is where the idea of putting cinnamon in chili comes from.

What I would do is get a lot of experience with a lot of different systems.

If you're enjoying self hosting and setting stuff up, go to something like TurnKey Linux and download a handful of applications that you're interested in using.

Spin up virtual servers on a proxmox server, install the turnkey Linux systems, and then learn how they work. Get ldap running on your home network. Set up an nginx reverse proxy and get a certificate so that you can go to a duckdns internal name spaces instead of IP addresses.

Find use cases for your home network system and then find how to make the systems you have available work for those use cases.

And for the love of god, find yourself a cheap Windows server license and virtualize one of those and integrate it into the mix.

Host a WordPress or Joomla on IIS, set up a pihole for your home DNS on Ubuntu server.

Run a jellyfin server and download a bunch of public domain movies to it.

Hello, find yourself some Kiwix images that you like and figure out how to get https and nginx names running on them.

The more you play around with the technology, the more you'll find out what you like doing and what you don't like doing and what you're good at and what you're not good at and that will help you understand where you fit and wear your talents lie.

Once you know that I'm sure you can put those talents to use for gainful employment.

I'm sure we've got the technology somewhere. We just need like a giant fucking tree to suck the carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere and to desalinate the oceans. Something that's the size of an island all by itself.

I don't care if it's 100 billion trees woven together with some science fuckery, but we need an Yggsrasil if we want to fix the planet.

Think about it. A giant tree out in the middle of the ocean that sucks up all of our carbon dioxide and turns it into more trees and that sucks the salts and minerals and plastics out of the ocean and incorporates those into itself until it grows as tall as 100 billion trees woven together with dark science can possibly grow.

Sure, it'll cost I don't know several billion dollars to make this happen a trillion I don't fucking know, but if we had that the world would get better.

Like I get the push more air through your mouth and get louder but my voice never breaks. I just get louder and louder and louder until I can't get louder anymore.

One time a friend of mine was a half a block away in the wrong direction and I screamed their name and they jumped because they said it sounded like I was right behind them talking in my normal voice just very loudly.

But then I listen to singers and they get that raw raspy edge to their voice and my voice doesn't do that.

How do you do that?

Here's the rules:

1: Post something you have never done that you think many people do. 2: Read the other posts, if you have done that thing, upvote it. If you have not done that thing, downvote it. 3: If you believe the person is lying, call them out on it in a reply. 4: If you are called out, give the full story. 4a: If you see a thread containing the full story, boost the person you think is right and truthful.

Person who has the most upvotes when the thread dies wins.

CAUTION SLOW

Don't get me wrong, there are problems with it, both in the process that modern AI uses as well as the sources that it draws from, however, as of right now ai is just a tool like auto-tune or photoshop.

Even though it will change the media formats that it is attached to, it will not supplant them within the next 5 to 10 years, it will simply transform them.

We'll just all assume that every person who gets this would make themselves early twenties with flawless skin, perfect organs, appendages and functionality, and no excess weight.

My question is, would you change yourself from your genetic baseline, and if so, how?
