If a post contains a hashtag that is taken by another magazine, that magazine usually gets the content instead of yours. Your magazine's hashtag has to appear first in the text. Your Japanese forum is probably catching all of the #japanese posts before they get to LearnJapanese.

So it seems as if @japanese gets priority of the #japanese hashtag due to it being the name of their magazine? Or possibly that they had the hashtag first? I hope multiple magazines are able to federate the same hashtag eventually. @Acala, the admin of @japanese has been inactive for the past few weeks. That's rather unfortunate, as the magazine has no published threads in addition to an inactive moderator.

Second, it's random which of your magazine hashtags will pull content and from who.

That's unfortunate, but helps to clear things up.

The only way to ensure a post gets from Mastdon to Kbin or Lemmy is to put @yourmagazine@kbin.social in the post tag. This will make sure it shows up on Lemmy, and will get your post to the Kbin Microblog of the magazine 90% of the time. If you want to be extra sure, do it like this:
@yourmagazinename@kbin.social #yourmagazinename (then any following hashtags)

I appreciate the suggestion, however, I generally do as you suggested for other posts that I want to increase discoverability for. I also have issues when trying to bring in content from the rest of the fediverse into a particular magazine via tags. That said, I don't want to make this a troubleshooting thread as this isn't the intended magazine for that.

Any tags associated with a Magazine will pull in those posts that include those tags.

Unfortunately, this has not been the case in my experience. I have a tag associated with a magazine I run. When I search #residentevil, I'm able to see several posts that don't get pulled to my magazine. Would you have any suggestions or tips?

Yeah, that's understandable, which is why I'm not currently opposed to staying with Gnome for the time being. However, Cinnamon also had the option to tile windows horizontally, as well as sectioning the screen into 1/4ths. It's not the most necessary feature, but I do miss it when I'm not on the Cinnamon session. The Extension Manager app sounds useful, though I've been steering clear of them due to the complaints I've read regarding their tendency to break. I'll look into it, thanks.

I had a feeling that xfce-notifyd was something not native to Gnome. To be honest, I don't remember installing the Gnome Wayland session, but noticed it at the login screen awhile back. I logged into it using the same login that I use for my LM Cinnamon session; I've heard this is not ideal, and this issue is probably one of the reasons why. For the record, I've also previously tried installing a LM xfce session, so that is perhaps the cause for its appearance. This conversation has me wondering if there's a proper way to reduce any goofy stuff I may have done because of experimenting with DEs. I don't mind looking into it myself, but would also appreciate any insight as you seem familiar with Gnome.

If hiccups are a once in awhile thing, that doesn't sound too bad, I suppose. I've been enjoying learning about Linux, and I could see troubleshooting Arch being fun. Though that's probably because I haven't experienced what a bad break could be like. However, I'll look into Debian+KDE, thanks for the recommendation.

I recall the second game getting a lot of negativity for…some reason I don’t fully remember.

Some of the popular complaints went into spoiler territory. Since I can't seem to spoiler tag on kbin, I'll only briefly mention that they generally centered around one of the main character's choices early on, while also targeting their appearance for being "unrealistic".

Outside of the story the gameplay is better, the tech is better, the environments are better. Even today it holds up as a powerhouse in these areas.

I agree overall. I also applaud Naughty Dog for the considerable number of gameplay options and accessibility features. If I remember correctly, someone has even beaten TLOU1/2 who was born blind.

Not gonna get into it here, but the lesson learned by the protagonist felt like it missed the mark a bit when looking at the events of the game after things were said and done. Ultimately, I think it's fairly minor considering that's maybe my main gripe. I suppose I had some issues with pacing too, and thought some aspects of the plot should have been fleshed out differently. I was hoping to revisit TLOU1/2 eventually to see how my thoughts have changed.

Been interested in #Linux, #Bash, and #Vim lately. I've been developing a casual interest in cyber-security and data privacy as well.

I like Linux because: it's free, I have more control, it runs really smoothly across several of my devices, the communities have been fascinating, and there's a lot to learn.

Bash has been helpful for doing some light file management. I'm no expert or anything, I've just enjoyed organizing my stuff better lately. Speaking of Bash, I really like the #CLI. I've even started accidentally using #terminal commands while using my web browser.

As tech evolves, our data and information becomes more accessible to ourselves and the people around us. I think it's a bit concerning at times the extent and accuracy that corporations can harvest info. I've been gradually adopting better practices for privacy/security, but within reason.
