These cars need to have a panic button that allows a remote operator to talk to the passengers, assess the situation, alert police and override the auto driving to get them out of bad situations. Same as an emergency call button on an elevator basically. I dont understand these cars to have any feature like that so far, and I'm assuming this woman would have used it if one was available, so please correct me if I'm wrong.

These cars are likely going to turn into hijack machines if they're programmed for "maximum safety" in situations where, realistically, breaking every traffic law, hitting a pedestrian or causing damage to the vehicle through dangerous terrain may be the only way out with a living passenger. The second it begins to percolate among criminals that these things are super easy to stop at the perfect location of your choosing like this, they are going to become a massive target.

Or they turn into a hearse if the passenger has a medical emergency and the car doesn't redirect while the passenger is incapacitated. They might be coherent enough to press a button, but not to open their phone, navigate the app, call for help or redirect the car to a hospital...

But that of course requires labor so it will not happen until legally mandated after a minimum threshold of people die.

I know in my mind that this is fake, but my heart wills so hard for it to be true

That's OK, there is an implied "only the black criminals" on the end of that sentence for both of them.

SEND THIS TO LOUIS ROSSMANN. He absolutely will rake them a new one and companies tend to magically "fix" errors in their favor when people make a huge PR stink about it.

It will help bring Adobe down faster too, because unilaterally revoking previously purchased licenses no matter how old is a great way to lose all trust from your corporate customers.

Edit: also cs5 is universally pirated, this is now your legal perogative to pirate it to retain access to the copy you PAID FOR.

I'd say it's actually a better market signal rather than indications of huge problems. "See, our competitiors send out defective products; we are holding back to make sure ours ship correctly."

That's exactly what enterprise/datacenter customers want to hear: a dedication to stability.

Wait y'all still see ads on YouTube?

If I can't block ads on a device, I'm not using YouTube on that particular device.

If that's not the textbook image of rats leaving a sinking ship, I don't know what is. "Fuck you. Got mine!"

The price pump that conveniently happened immediately after release sure was nice for Pig Boy Huffman, wasn't it.

Data on short positions become available tomorrow (April 9th) as referenced in this article so the roller coaster is only just getting started. It's gonna get wild once the market realizes what a house of cards Reddit is built on.

I've been having a bit of trouble loading the lemmy site today. It times out and takes ages to load quite often. I tested with other websites (Wikipedia, a school website, google) and while my mobile data is... not fast, it is not as slow as db0 is running.

I started thinking about it and I feel like loading performance has been slower than usual for a few days even...

Can anyone else confirm degraded performance today or am I trippin'?

Edit: using latest Firefox running uBlock origin on Android 14 if that matters. S21 Ultra.

Forced arbitration means any legal disputes you may have with Discord must be resolved through a single third party mediator, who 99% of the time is chosen by, and will rule in favor of, the corporation/Discord. This effectively removes all your legal rights as a consumer, because arbitration decisions are legally binding and non-appealable.

The new ToS goes into effect April 15th, 2024.

YOU CAN OPT OUT OF ARBITRATION. You must email arbitration-opt-out@discord.com BEFORE MAY 15TH (30 days after ToS effective date) with your username stating that you wish to opt out of the arbitration clause. Once May 15th passes you are bound to arbitration with Discord forever.

Opt-out before it's too late.

They supposedly can be disabled in settings- but we all know that won't last. They're going full Microsoft Skype mode and it's only a matter of time.

Even Windows doesn't really even need a 3rd party anti-virus anymore. The built in windows defender has gotten so good as to really be all you need for active protection unless you're insanely stupid and keep bypassing it. Use Malwarebytes for deep file scans once in a blue moon, and you're golden.
