Third kind of makes the first one pointless. Unless that is, you consider doing the Polka by yourself masturbation.

I almost left Lemmy because of the crap I always had in my feed.

Then I realized all the bottom of the barrel content and takes were all from the hexbear instance. I started blocking any community from that server. It’s like a whole new world

Idk but if so, mission accomplished I guess

No, because just banning things rarely achieves the desired results.

And whether it’s cane sugar or high fructose corn syrup, too much sugar in general is the problem, much more so than the subtle differences between the two.

My grandpa would just set the old oil filters when he would change the oil in the 3 farm tractors he owned. He did that for years and 30 years later that spot is still like blacktop. At least it’s only a 2’x2’ spot but I couldn’t imagine if he dumped the actual oil. And that’s only 3 diesel tractors twice a year.

The thought that shops were doing it for years is sad

I’ll second this. As a transplant of Reddit who used Apollo, Memmy seems to be heavily influenced by Apollo, which imo was an outstanding app.

I also saw all the posts about Sync and had to get caught up. Definitely makes me appreciate this app too.

Both him and Biden shouldn’t be in political office, in fact there should be a cutoff and that should be you can’t run after you’re 70. Democrat or Republican people that should be at home retired tending to their garden or fishing shouldn’t be running the country.

It’s scientifically proven your cognitive ability is significantly declining by that age, and not to mention they are almost always out of touch with the modern world we live in.

I took part in the Reddit blackout a month ago, and accessed Reddit through Apollo. After the blackout I looked at Reddit a handful of times and then let my association with Reddit die with Apollo.

I haven’t been there since, but now I feel as though I should have deleted my account of 7 years, that way everything I ever contributed will be gone.

However, to accomplish this as you all know I should delete all my posts first and edit all comments. I was wondering what people used to do this. I want everything to read “Edit: moved to Lemmy”.

I’m sure others migrating here have the same question. Thanks.

It’s the main reason why Reddit was a giant circle jerk. I like here that you can upvote and downvote things but it’s not connected to your account at all. Just connected to the comment or post, as it should be.

First of all, I cannot speak for the current state of Reddit myself because I literally never go there anymore.

I’ve been here for 5 days, and from my experience is this platform has gained a lot of traction even in that short timeframe. Hopefully it just doesn’t level off and then die suddenly.

Most importantly though, this article hit on the nose of what my opinion is on what made Reddit great… great 3rd party platforms (I loved Apollo) and the moderation/customization of its subreddits. Everything was so hands off. Both of those are gone now. Reddit killed off the very things that made it unique and so good.

In my 7 years on Reddit, I’d say over the last two-ish years we have slowly been seeing that leave. So many subs got shut down, and some definitely were questionable at best, but in it, Reddit organic feel and freedom. At first it was only the worst of the worst subs, but slowly more and more left. Not to mention moderation was being done by a shrinking number of people and it seemed the echo chamber in each individual sub got worse.

Some changes were directly administration’s fault, others indirect to varying degrees.

I’d argue Reddit has slowly been killing itself for awhile now, it’s just that the latest changes are the most abrupt, direct, and significant.

My time on Reddit died simultaneously with Apollo. I’m doing what I can by not giving that place anymore traffic from me.

Found out about Lemmy yesterday. While it’s not there with niche interests at this point, it definitely cures the itch.

You want to stick it to the man? Quit going there altogether people!
