There is a place for graphically gorgeous distro’s, but when it comes to ease and speed, Xfce is just the best for me.

I started using Xfce when Xubuntu first came out and I switched to Linux Mint Xfce when that started. I did try other distro’s when others recommended them, but always switched back to Xfce.

I have an old Eeepc that runs so smoothly on the latest Mint Xfce despite being a senior in computer years.

And that’s why it was about time I gushed about Xfce on here 😀

I see you shiver with antici…..

And as this post sorely misses classic romcom:

  • I’m just a girl, standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her
  • Don't you love New York in the fall? It makes me wanna buy school supplies. I would send you a bouquet of newly sharpened pencils if I knew your name and address. On the other hand, this not knowing has its charms.
  • peeeeeecaaaaaaaaaan piiiiiiieeeeeee

Making food, either baking or cooking. They focus you on the here and now and you eat well to boot.

A hobby that has helped me a lot is knitting. It’s simple to learn and it’s another truly mindful thing to do for you.

I’ve been on namecheap for a long time. They have a sale going on now. But they are really good, hardly ever a problem and if there is, their customer service is stellar.

Tea! Any tea.

I find the climate change deniers way more tiring.

I’m so looking forward to this! You can tell from the trailer that the cast had so much fun!

I have thoroughly enjoyed the TDFF this week! Such a foggy Tourmalet.

Will write more later, don’t want to spoil anything yet.

Final stage tomorrow, a time trial!

My health. It's made me lose so many connections, and lately it's made me feel like I'm invisible. Not even those closest to me really know how to deal with me and me having to cancel things because my body says no.

It's nearly August so I thought I would put up a post!

I'm still working on my July plans, waylaid by my health issues, but I want to make plans for August to keep the momentum going.

What are your plans for August?

I will post mine in the comments.

on quality (lemm.ee)

When I grew up, I wore home made clothes created with the best natural fabrics my parents had available.

Then I grew up and almost exclusively bought new clothes. The thing is, most of them barely lasted a season.

After many years of discarding clothes, I went back to my childhood ways, buying clothes made with organic cotton, wool or linen. Spending a little more on clothes that now stay with me for years, not a season.

I do keep out of season clothes separate from my wardrobe so every season it feels like I have new clothes I’ve just bought.

Lately my quest for quality branched out to my office supplies. I only buy what I know will last me, so no throwaway pens and crappy paper notebooks.

In my major office declutter, I let go of so many crappy notebooks and pens. It made my heart ache to see all that bad paper and plastic go to the thrift store, knowing that most might end up in recycling.

In what area can you focus on more quality vs stuff that starts to break down when you buy it?

My Brother HL 230 laser printer is so reliable. Had it for years and it never failed me.

My excitement is maybe small, but I’m excited about the 5-ish hours of sleep I’ve just had, which is such a gift after weeks of pain waking me up all the time

The first thing that came to mind: an olive fork. It was an expensive brand too.

I don’t eat olives and the giver knew that. The fork is still unused in my junk drawer.

I really miss IRC and usenet. And I know both still exist but I miss the communities there 😊

I’ve had my SE3 for a year and the battery is already deteriorating fast, hope they’ve figured it out for the 4.

I’m actually surprised there will be a 4. I had the idea that apple wanted to stick with large everything.

I have small hands and large phones give me pain issues. Hope they will keep making SE’s now 😊

  1. Get all the already decluttered stuff out of the house.
  2. Clear my desk (aka how does it get so messy in the first place)
  3. add art supplies to shelf
  4. Sort/declutter last bookshelf I need to go through
  5. File admin stuff and do the tasks

I also need to make it an evening routine to clear my desk before I leave my office, but that’s not something I will be able to do in a week

My husband put several Monstera Adansonii stem cuttings in a box on some perlite and they are growing so fast! Our home will be full of monkey mask plants soon 😊

I intend to work in my office/home library. I started to declutter there last month, but it needs some more work. Well. A lot of work.

I may post a to do list for this next week :)
