Or you could just use your local taxi service which doesn't have gig-economy shenanigans attached.

True, I always opt for the bus when I can (it's so much cheaper and less awkward).
Local taxi services can be a bit scammy on their own
I agree, especially if you're a tourist in a foreign country and you don't speak the language
Lol. There's no taxi service anymore. At least in Bucharest most taxi drivers moved to uber/bolt and the remaining "traditional" taxi companies are unreliable.
Can't speak for everyone, but my local ones are pretty reliable. One even has its own app that lets you call a taxi like Uber.
We have that in Romania too. In fact we had them years before uber came... But now they're dying.
Somehow taxis in Arnhem cost €40 for a 15 minute drive, I'll use a deelfiets (it's better for the environment, too)
