I dont get how snakes breathe

Edit: yes I do now

His lungs apparently are somehow just warping around it

[–] Gullible@sh.itjust.works 26 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

That’s interesting, I’m having a hard time picturing their diaphragm.

Uhh, they should have covered this in school even if your parents neglected to do so, but here you go.

[–] Madison420@lemmy.world 8 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

They're saying snakes do not have diaphragms.

Ed: it's their own alt, they could have just said that and not reveled in the drama they caused but whatever.

Access mostly relates to socioeconomic factors, but you’re largely correct. Use is notably higher in more affluent areas, but snakes are largely homeless and unsupported through reproductive legislation so that rarely matters.

These snakes both lay and eat eggs, so they can get abortion with breakfast.

I think I’ll leave the snake jokes to you. That was really good

[–] Madison420@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

The fuck are you talking about.

Diaphragms are a form of birth control. They are making a joke by deliberating misinterpreting the specific meaning of the word used in an absurdist way, in the Mad Hatter style.

Wtf, dude, I fucking lol’d at your joke, and I’m just floored at all the subsequent downvotes. I’m so sorry, I really only meant to trigger a fun conversation but something else happened… 🤷‍♂️😅

i believe thier airway is extended and physically seperated from the throat into the mouth so they can breathe while they are swallowing food at the same time, i think alligators have a similar system. and they only have one lung because of thier elongated body doesnt allow for the extra organs. if you seen a snake swallowing you can see a hole in thier mouth thats what they use to breathe.

[–] ZoteTheMighty@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 week ago

I don't know what I was expecting, I suppose obviously all their organs would be long and thin logically, but I was expecting something else.

[–] pemptago@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 week ago

Looking like recursion with organs: all organs placed inside a large-intestine-like animal. And if it swallowed a mouse, another set of organs, and if that mouse swallowed ... etc
