Yes! And I've also looked into Indian counting patterns (e.g., Sarah Thawer, the drummer, from whom I learned about the rupak taal). My favorite composer is Philip Glass and minimalism as a genre owes a lot to his experiences with Indian music. Unfortunately I got into Glass when I was in high school and nobody else gave a shit.

Glass is great. Yeah, hs'ers prolly wouldn't appreciate him so much :-) I'll look into Sarah Thawer...
