Liberal academics are the most spineless people ever. I've been handcuffed and thrown into a police car before when doing things the west didnt like, and that didnt stop me from doing it more. Someone whispers in your ear and you quit your job? Even if this was true. It's pathetic.
You are only saying this because a sneaky Chinese hasn't snuck up to you and whispered "we are watching you" in your ear just as you were about to blow the lid off the biggest scandal of your life.
Actually, depending on how they say it, i'm almost thinking i might enjoy that experience a bit too much, if you know what i mean...
The way you phrased that reminded me of how british people refer to chinese* takeout as "A chinese" and now im imaging a box of takeout sneaking up on someone and whispering that in their ear.
*It's not actually chinese takeout because its britain so like all food there its basically slop. But thats what they call it.
it's insufferable sometimes how easy it is to scare the shit out of these professional-managerial types. i might do that just to mess with them
If you do, say "they're watching you" instead because it absolves you of involvement.
