Seems surprising to lie about this on a small community like Lemmy. Maybe it's an urban myth that keep being spread.
I made it up because I thought it would be funny
Because it’s funny. The thought of going to all that trouble to not be one upped by your richer neighbour and then for someone to undo it all by taking a picture where they stopped is amusing. No matter how far they built the road someone could take the picture where it stopped and call them shit
