Careful, that thin plastic is load bearing.

[-] assembly@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

Just LOLed in the grocery store line.

Reminder to self: The upvote is for when I hate it.

I wonder if Chevy designed those to be load bearing quarter panels...

[-] jewbacca117@lemmy.world 29 points 2 months ago

Really, anything can be load bearing. Question is for how long

Well at least they’re using lag bolts when mounting to the now crumpled sheer pieces of metal designed to flex and give during accidents.

And so many nails for the wood that definitely wouldn’t come loose from the vibrations caused by the road and air turbulence.

If we are optimistic this could just be a semi-mobile ghetto hunting cabin they have just stopped at the hardware store before taking this thing to its forever home.

[-] thisorthatorwhatever@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

Employed but homeless...so trying to live as best they can?

[-] moody 6 points 2 months ago

What do you mean homeless? That is a home.

[-] Delphia@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

Also possible but more depressing... not really optimistic.

[-] Etterra@lemmy.world 9 points 2 months ago

Those are the hardest working bolts in the country.

[-] mkwt@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago

I'd certainly hate to see the wind tunnel and FEA study on this.

[-] SzethFriendOfNimi@lemmy.world 7 points 2 months ago

Nobody in their right mind would risk their wind tunnel with this. But it would be absolutely hilarious to watch

[-] sulgoth@lemmy.world 23 points 2 months ago

This is both impressive and terrifying. I love to hate it.

[-] Greg@lemmy.ca 19 points 2 months ago

DIY... more like DIE... amirite?

[-] KittenBiscuits@lemm.ee 5 points 2 months ago

Murder camper was my first thought, yes

[-] don@lemm.ee 15 points 2 months ago

Really stretching the definition of “mom’s attic” with this one.

[-] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 11 points 2 months ago

It's like every design from the Top Gear camper challenge had a baby

[-] Adderbox76@lemmy.ca 9 points 2 months ago

I really really want to see the inside.

[-] WolvenSpectre@lemmy.ca 6 points 2 months ago

This works until, and here me out... you have to work on the engine. You won't be able to get to half the block to do anything.

[-] Balthazar@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago
[-] Etterra@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

I'm sure this is totally and completely safe. I'm just going to stay far away from it because... um... I think it's better to admire its beauty from far enough away that I can take in the entirety of it before a gigantic beautiful background of everything. Yeah that's it. No other reason.

[-] someguy3@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

Don't bounce on the bed.

[-] ThePantser@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

This is the guy you want when the zombies come. He is super handy with what is laying around. But til then this guy is dangerous.
