This guy looks like serious business.

Have you ever used Golden Star balm? The one on the shield here? It's a bloody godsend

[–] PolandIsAStateOfMind@lemmygrad.ml 9 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

Hell yeah best balm there is. I would love to have can so big from which the pictured lid came.

[–] ColonelRevolution@lemmygrad.ml 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I haven't, I will keep that in mind

[–] Shrike502@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 2 years ago

Might be difficult to obtain the real thing, depending on your location. But it's great for various things, including clearing out sinuses

Captain free healthcare

Even in-universe he gets his ass handed to him every movie.

Imo that's just an attempt to portray USA as this plucky underdog

Always the funniest aspect of any post-WW2 war movie.

Capitan Fentanyl

Um Comrade Cuba?

Looks like a Hexbear user came up with the same suggestion a mere 39 seconds before you... great minds think alike?

Desegregation

Remember… He’s a white guy from the 1940’s…

[–] Shrike502@lemmygrad.ml 18 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Superhero comics are weird.

I also like this one:

Edit: this is Iron Musk's token black friend, not Captain Napalm's.

Alive, formerly deceased

I think the word they're looking for is "undead"

[–] Shinhoshi@lemmygrad.ml 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

He didn't actually die yet in MCU; he was still alive at the end of Endgame although an old man. In 2024, according to the first episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, people speculated he might be living on the Moon.

I was talking about the black guy

Captain Taliban?

[–] PoY@lemmygrad.ml 17 points 2 years ago

Commodore Korea?

[–] Shinhoshi@lemmygrad.ml 17 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Captain Obvious, because Captain Obvious can say some obvious things that slice right through propaganda.

[–] Rasm635u@lemmygrad.ml 1 points 2 years ago

Cpt. Obvious can only say obvious things afaik

Do we have a Soviet counterpart in the comics/movies?

[–] Shrike502@lemmygrad.ml 16 points 2 years ago

Yes, but they're... Not good. Can't expect much from a medium as propagandized as capeshit, but there's "Red Guardian"

[–] QueerCommie@lemmygrad.ml 6 points 2 years ago (1 children)
[–] Shrike502@lemmygrad.ml 6 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Arguably he's more of a "Soviet wolverine"

[–] QueerCommie@lemmygrad.ml 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

True, but the experiments were meant to be the Soviets’ version of Captain America.

Captain every country in the world?

[–] swiftessay@lemmygrad.ml 13 points 2 years ago (1 children)

In Brazil we call that "lapada seca". I don't think I know how to translate the spirit of it, but literally it's something like "dry slap".

You say that when someone got slapped so hard you can feel the pain from afar.

[–] Evilsandwichman@hexbear.net 11 points 2 years ago (1 children)

If his character wasn't being used for propaganda I'd say he's fine because he fought Nazis and didn't participate in any wars post-WW2; can't help but feel the original writer was probably like "um....I really don't want to have to make a cover with Captain America punching out Vietnamese civilians"

[–] Shrike502@lemmygrad.ml 3 points 2 years ago

IIRC he originally did participate in some post-WW2 shittery, including communist hunting. But that later got retconned to be a different character, who was given the mask after the original got iced. The new char went on to be a neo-nazi
